    I think you might mean the TPT or Thumb Pad Test. The TNT or Thumbnail Test is only used at bevel setting stage & will certainly degrade a shave ready edge.

    Re the OP. I've just honed 3 new Dovos & all had issues with the edge from either being too thin & crumbling or having an incomplete bevel.
