You didn't really say that, did you? *Scoff!*
Why is it that straight razor shaving makes so many people think they're 18th century British noblemen? When they join this site they're like, "Hey dudes, I'm thinkin' about gettin' a cutthroat razor! WOO! - Sam." A week or two later they're signing their posts with, "As always, I leave you gents with my warmest and sincerest regards! Yours, as always, - Samuel Allan Featherbottom.Last edited by Blade Wielder; 10-16-2009 at 02:22 PM.

Awww this thread is making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
It's funny the reactions I have been getting about my straight shaving now. Everyone has said, "Why?!" I give them my range of reasons. But most of my friends are just afraid they are going to cut themselves. They are interested to watch me though. When I am very good at it, eventually, I am going to convince one of them to let me give them a shave. hahahaha

Thanked: 735Well, doesn't the act of straight shaving impart just a bit of gentlemanliness(???
) even to most churlish of characters who in their misspent youth perhaps even whacked golfballs off hilltops into other neighborhoods, or fled a burning apartment under suspicious circumstances?
Kind regards,

The nice thing about our artform is you can shave with a MOP tanged, ivory scaled, 6/8's extra hollow worked spine Spanish point, and drink tea with your pinky finger erect, and be all gentlemanly on one day, and the next, Grab your 9/8 wedge that you left the patina and rust on and use Jack D as an aftershave and be a complete badass. Its more expressive than deciding between the blue or orange fusion... everything can be expressed, from scents to blades to shaving style etc...

Thanked: 199Obie,
I love reading your posts! And yes, maybe there is a bit of hope for the human race after all. Now if we could just get more people to forging quality blades at reasonable prices...
And I would love to have women barge in on me while shaving...might scare them away tho. Or maybe I just need to start going to dormatories to shave!Of course, that may land me in jail, without my straight, so maybe I shouldn't do that
Humbly,
Cleophus, First Squire of Richland

Hmm.. I haven't tried JD as an after shave, but that might be on the to do list. As soon as I am of age of course.
But I really enjoyed the spirit of the post, and my have to use my old crusty Klaas tomorrow just for the fun of it.

Jawing in the Locker Room
My dear Blade Wielder,
It is not that some of us on SRP try to sound Victorian British. No, not at all. Some of us actually do prefer to use proper English — unless writing dialogue where need might arise for slang or cool words.
"Hey, dude, I'm thinkin' about gettin' a cutthroat razor . . ."
Oy . . .
I feel heartbroken for the letter "g" as it is often eliminated from words by many English-speaking people. "Thinkin'," "Gettin'" — the poor letter "g" keeps "getting" the shaft.
As for the noun "dude," it reminds me of a green horn from back East facing a gunslinger in a Hollywood Western.
"Thanking" you for your thoughts and "Signing" off with regards,
Obie
