Trust me.... Us young folk would rather pace ourselves by lying on the couch... Coach really likes to work us over though. Its payin off though... thank god. Otherwise I would slit my throat.

Thanked: 235I get the feeling you are working out, training for a sport. My workout is just so I can lose my love handles, spare tire and man boobs. Also, the gym I go to has a fantastic sauna and steam room. Then when I walk out of the locker room (locker room sounds too crude for this place. Gentleman's dressing room is a better description) I have to walk through a lounge area that has a giant window with views overlooking Bangkok. These facilities seem to say to me, 'Have a seat you well shaved gentleman.'

Ah sapphire... what a great gin....
"Coach I think my finger is broken."
"Can you hold an oar?"
"Well technically yes if I ...."
"Then you're rowing."
Steve goes to the doctor after morning practice. X-ray. Broken finger. At afternoon practice.
"Coach should I row with a broken finger?"
"You've got a splint what more do you want?"
"But..."
"Can you hold an oar?"
LOL.

Thanked: 20Haha. I always had the feeling that coaches in the scholar sports system we're over training their players, thinking that what they see in movies about courage, perseverance and all these really nice virtues really translated well in the reality. I played high school and collegial football and well... it doesn't. I could go on but... I'm tired. :P
And... I wouldn't row with a broken anything to prove that point. If it doesn't heal well, your coach will be faaaar away and you'll only have gained a crippled finger.

It's steve thats doing it, not me lol. And last month I think Searle had a broken foot....
enough about me! I could talk for hours about the cruelty of D1 athletics...
This thread is about locker room interactions!

Thanked: 137I don't go to the gym, I've been injured for the last 3 or so months with another excruciating bout of shin splints from my field hockey umpiring (up to 6 games a week will do that to you eventually). I've just started getting back into exercising, but not the gym. I much prefer to get my exercise on the squash court, it's far more entertaining to me than lifting weights of running on a treadmill, and it's a far more social experience for me, as I can have a discussion with my regular partner while playing.
That said, I don't shave after squash. I don't even shower, but then again my dorm is extremely close to the courts, so I walk home and shower and shave (if needed) there. We have individual bathrooms (3 to a floor of 15) so I don't have anyone watch me while I shave. The people on my floor know I use a straight, find it interesting, but don't seem interested enough to want to watch me shave. I'm kind of grateful for that, actually, because I know Murphy's Law would come into play if they did, and I'd no doubt end up slicing myself good with them watching me do it. Kudos to those who do shave in front of others though, I couldn't do that myself, I'm still not quite confident enough yet.
