Guys Barber Shop
St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
They use disposable blades, but Johnny told me if I brought my own blade he'd be thrilled to shave me with a "real" straight.
Cost: $13

Just about any barber shop in Skopje, Macedonia gives straight razor shaves. They use disposable blades too...
Cost: 1-2 USD
When you are here, gimme a call, too...

Thanked: 2I know of 2 barber shops in Milwaukee which give straight razor shaves. It's been a couple of years since I had a shave in one of the shops and at that time the barber used a real straight razor. Not sure if he still is using actual straights today though. My current barber definitely gives straight razor shaves. I personally have not yet had one, but I've seen others getting them.
Come to Milwaukee if you want an actual straight razor shave! However, right now it's pretty cold.

Thanked: 0I guess I am going to have to get out and look. The last time I checked all the barbers around here had given up on shaving.

Thanked: 2On my post from Monday I mentioned that my barber gives shaves with a real straight, but I've never had one there. That's about to change. I'll be getting a haircut and a shave tomorrow which is a good thing since my last shave was on Sunday morning and I'm looking a "little" rough. Looking forward to tomorrow.

My local barber in NJ gives a straight razor shave - at least, the owner, who's a bit older, does, and I think a few of the other, older guys.
I note, as an aside, that since the mid-1980s, NJ has licensed no new barbers. Everyone now gets licensed as a "cosmetologist-hairstylist". So, barbers here really are a dying breed. But, the licensing exam still includes a shaving test, I'm told.
In the UK, I know the barber on Whitcomb Street, right off Trafalgar Square, has straight razor shaves, and, when I went there a few years ago, used a brush and soap mug, too. Of course, if you're in the area, Taylors or Truefitts are right nearby.

The William Byrd Hotel and the John Marshall Hotel, both in Richmond Virginia, but both shaves really aren't worth mentioning.
I am actually suprised the barber at the William Byrd Hotel is still alive each time I come back for a haircut.
Supposedly there is another "spa" that does str8 shaves, but it's a SPA.

Thanked: 4942Give the woman from Milwaukee our website. It would be great to see the collection and have another barber who shaves folks in here. Thanks. Lynn

Thanked: 1I heard an ad on the radio a few weeks ago about a shop here in Houston that still does str8 shaves but I didn't get the name or number. I though about calling all the ones in the phone book until I saw how many there are.
I'll be moving to SC (Greenville/Spartanburg area) this summer. Dad's barber has been in business for over 50 years but appearently he doesn't do them anymore. I'm trying to get Dad to ask him about it. If anybody knows of one in that area I would love to hear about it. Charlotte's just a little too far to go just for a shave.
