I don't rinse between, never have. I don't have dried lather as I shave it all off... Just never thought about it

Thanked: 77I'm not rinsing my blade either
- and I'm only wiping it twice:
- once after I've finished with my right hand
- and the 2nd time after I've finished with my left.
Leaving the lather on the blade (yes plus whiskers) seems to make my shave feel more comfortable, especially around the lip area. (Perhaps having more lather on the blade helps with the buffing strokes).
Well ok - the blade gets a little rinse, but only after I've finished my shave.
Working nicely for me anyway.
All the best,
Michael.Last edited by FTG; 04-18-2010 at 10:13 AM.

There goes Jimmy ... Breaking all the rules !!
First the kitchen cabinets and now this.
Maybe a cold water shave how to wiki entry is in order.
I find the lather tends to get sticky if I don't rinse, but thats just me.

I agree that a cold water shave tutorial in the Wiki is a good idea and I had thought of it but never got around to it. Maybe I will insert something in there soon. The lather getting sticky is what I like about not rinsing. As far as breaking the rules, I hadn't looked at it that way but thanks for bringing it to my attention. Now I'll enjoy the shaves even more.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 4I dont rinse between passes I just add a splash of water to my brush. I lather directly on my face and since I don't rinse just a bit more water in the brush seems to do the trick.
I also don't use as much lather on the successive passes. I load the brush once and use it the way it is.

I've done a brief water splash between latherings/passes and many time I've not bothered, depends on the shave soap/cream and how the shave's going. I can usually manage to re-wet using just the brush flicked under a running faucet and rewet, almost face re-lathering. It's a hydration thing. Touching up on hydration, here and there, not a washing/rinsing scheme.
Some soaps, like the J.B. Williams I just used, really benefit from a water application, revealing the true glide/slickness potential for the final pass/touch-ups. It may not be picturesquely foamy, but it sure works.

I've never rinsed between passes. It seems to me if you use a quality soap it conditions your face perfectly for additional passes plus the lather contains water anyway.
Hey! and don't you guys give Jimmy too much credit for inventing cold water shaving I've been saying it's a viable method for years now and people have doubted it.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
