Morning Shaves...
Ugh...working job interview on Monday. I suppose that's the only good part to come of this post. But at any rate, I digress. Since my interview is in the early afternoon, I don't want to show up with 24 hours of growth, so this weekend, I've changed my routine to include shaving in the morning. I gotta say, this stinks! Do you morning guys integrate a hot cup of coffee into your morning ritual? I just stood in front of the mirror and tried not to nod off and slice my head off...

Thanked: 1195Ha ha... good question Red!
That's why I shave at night, so as to not let things like schedules get in the way of my relaxing shaves. If I was inclined to do so in the a.m. I'd probably use a DE just to get it over with.

Maybe try a stronger scented shave soap. Mama Bear's has a whole line of menthol soaps, one even called "awakenings".
I love to shave in the AM. It's my morning coffee.

Well...I am an AM kind of guy and not much of a coffee drinker and love shaving in the AM. My rec if you are an evening creature is to sleep earlier and get up early...it works well (for me). But, I honestly don't know what else to recommend that would work. Being an AM person is habitual.
In this new job (should you land it), will you be working in the mornings and are you expected to be clean shaven?
Good luck with the interview

lol...not even MB can wake me from my morning stupors
Oh, yeah, I work in the dental field...so it always have to be clean. What I did during my residency was to shave right before bed...between 10-11pm and the shave held up well through the entire day.

Thanked: 1My mornings consist of a 1st cup of coffee BEFORE shaving! It helps steady the hands.
2nd cup of coffee after shaving, while reading news sites, SRP and other urls.
Of course, I tend to wake up around 5am. Leaves me plenty of time to wake up for the day.

Morning Shaves
Hello, Red96ta:
For a person who for more than 30 years awakened at 4 a.m. and by 6 a.m. was bubbling behind the radio microphone, I have one comment: It's all in your head. Get your royal self out of bed, put on the coffee, shower and then treat yourself to a good shave. Don't worry, the shave will hold, and the job will be yours to have. Piece o' cake. Good luck.
Regards,
Obie

Radio is no place for your Hollywood face, Obie!
I usually shave at night. The wife has command of the master bathroom in the mornings and that's where all my shave gear is.
Sometimes I'll get up a little earlier, or she'll go to the gym early, and then I can take a good 30 minutes with no distractions. I do enjoy those morning shaves when I can.

Morning Shave
My dear Commiecat:
Ah, but I had the perfect face for radio. It is only after I began shaving with the straight razor that my face went Hollywood.
I must say, once or twice in my life I have had to shave at night. It doesn't feel right. The same as he was not meant to fly, or shave with a five-blade cartridge razor that vibrates, man was not meant to shave at night — or something like that.
Something feels spiritual about being up at dawn for a hot coup of coffee, a shower and a shave. The peace at that hour is ethereal. Although no longer in radio, I still awaken at about 4 a.m., have coffee, work on my writing, and then it's off to the shower, followed by a shave. Then I awaken dearly beloved. I've had a schedule change so that I no longer shave at the health club.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 1195It's funny that you mention your radio career Obie. It's a field that I nearly went into (I've always been told I have a "radio voice"), but I must admit that one of the negatives that crossed my mind was getting up so bloody early for a morning show. It sounds silly, but I am NOT a morning person, never have been, probably never will be. I've always been envious of those get-up-&-go types, the ones who are way too cheerful for 6:30 in the morning!
