Thread: Morning Shaves...

I always shave in the morning. I have a hot shower and then brush my teeth while the waters heating.
Then I soak the soap and brush, and strop the razor up while the soap softens and then lather up and go to it!
Its a really great way to start the day, and I actually get up a little earlier just to make sure I have time for a proper shave. Days that start with a DE shave are never as good lol..!

Red's right: Morning shaves suck! Everyone else is wrong, no matter how much you like shaving in the morning.
Shaving at night is much more relaxing, and if I get a good BBS it'll be more than passable until 5 PM the next day. In fact, I try to stretch my shaves two days and it's not until the second day's afternoon that I start getting a bad shadow.
The lesson to take from this: Schedule your interviews in the morning.

Like Obie, I am an early riser--5 AM - 6 AM--so I have no problem shaving in the morning. I usually drink 1-2 cups of coffee before I shower and shave, then 1-2 more before I'm off to work.

I woke up this morning and shaved with my Dovo Special...really took my time and did it right. Here's the thing about dental interviews. It's not so much sitting on the other side of a desk and highlighting your qualifications...we have 'working interviews' where they just toss you into the mess and let you go, and this was an oral surgeon.
Patient 1: Was a girl with an impacted anterior tooth where the doctor had to fillet your face to get to the tooth, cement an orthodontic band with a chain and then sew her all up with the chain hanging out so her orthodontist can pull that tooth into place.
Patient 2: 2nd Molar extraction on a gent with a pretty bad gag reflex...gah, you have a hard time sucking spit out of the mouth if they're gagging on the evac tip.
Patient 3: Wisdom tooth extractions in all four quadrants. The kid is an admitted druggie but the Doc decides to go for general anesthesia anyway. After ten minutes, the kid starts to fight back in his sleep....the only way I can describe it is like having a bad trip. All his limbs get extremely tensed up and he pretty much turned into Superman! It took both of us to keep his hands out of his mouth and to restrain him from hurting himself.
I don't know...it seems to me that doctors want to see you work in a strange environment having NO IDEA where things are located or how his work-flow is structured. Sure, you can get a general idea of how these things work in school, but every office I've been in is completely different...different preferred tools, procedures, and brands of equipment. They don't seem to care that you don't know where something is located, you have to be just as fast as the RDA's that have been there for over a decade.
I'm not sure I'll get a call back from this guy.
So, I decided to get back into my evening shave schedule and ended up taking the day out on my face...forget light pressure...those facial hairs must pay.

What did those hairs ever do to you?!
Sounds like a tough run, but if you got through it cool maybe he will call you back. Even if it doesn't work out, at least it's experience for any interview in the future.
By the way - What have these people been doing to their teeth? Pull chains and general anesthesia? Floss once in a while.

I recommend shaving at night to beginners so they don't rush and if they nick, not a big deal. But I like to put on my Best Face for an Occasion. Wether it be work, or out with company, I wait until I'm about to go out to shave. Mostly my Occasions are work, so my shaves come in the mornings. I don't want to go through the effort to make myself presentable for late night tv on my couch.

I almost never shave in the morning (except maybe for weekends, but then my morning starts after 10AM). On weekdays I'm too much of a fan of the snooze button on the alarm clock and never have time before I gotta leave for work.
