It's a nice idea. it won't work in my bathroom though as the sink isn't deep enough and the tap too low and too close to the center.

I rinse under the tap. I always have and I've yet (knocking on wood) to ding an edge. I saw the video but It bugs me to wipe the blade. I feel like it might dull it. Maybe I have nothing to worry about but I'm going to keep rinsing.

That video was great. That man is a master, he is so comfortable with his blade, he even did a S to N under his nose, many men won't do that.

The best method is totally subjective .
Just make sure you are always mindful of the edge to save it & your fingers & make sure it is clean & dry on finishing.

    Hi,

I dip the blade in the sink water to remove soap, then wipe with a towel.

I am always very careful not to ding the blade against the sink !

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

    Default back of hand

I have been using the technique that (again I know) my father showed me (I am neewb) I wipe the blade across the back of my hand a cm back from the intersection of the base your thumb and first finger, if it’s a good stiff lather I can shave quite happily almost my whole face just building up the used lather, the idea is you dip your hand in the sink and wiggle to get rid of the soap, you would have to have serious hand eye coordination problems to cut your hand, as you lead with the spine and go slow.

    Adieu.

    I do both!

I rinse the blade and then wipe off whatever is left on a strip of tissue that I hang over the towel rail.

    Works pretty well!

I rinse. I would have to be a real klutz to bang the blade on the faucet or sink when rinsing, and one can always dry the blade after use.

I dry the blade by wiping with a towel, pretty much just like stropping.

Like Jimmy, I carefully rinse under running water from the tap. In my case I figure that if I don't have enough control to not bang it into the faucet then putting the razor to my face would be out of the question.

I rinse - straight razor men are careful men so I can't see why one would hit it on the faucet? It's pretty easy to move the razor away from the faucet. I then wipe with a micro fibre towel end to end, not stropping style, and careful not to contact the edge much. I then strop several strokes on the strop to ensure the edge is dry. I've been doing that for a couple of years with no issues and no chance to dull the blade.
