That's great to hear, but this thread is about how you wipe the blade when you shave. Some of us enjoy the finer things in life and can easily afford it. Others are satisfied with being average. I'm sure I'm not the only member to purchase a an Alex Jacques, Josh Earl, Charlie Lewis or Mistro Livi custom razor. They are true masters in their field. Tell them their blades aren't worth it instead of paying. I'm satisfied and would pay double for their works of art.

I do both. I rinse it well then wipe it dry. I've dinged it once on the faucet through careless stupidity. I don't think it will happen again.

I just rinse. Occasionally I wipe on my hand but just to check the length and amount of hair the edge is cutting after I've honed something. But I admire you gentlemen for wiping.
I've never once dinged a razor in the sink.
I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

To each his own, but it's just a matter of time. Good luck!

Since I wipe the blade to dry it, I rinse first to clean off the soap. Using a wet cloth to wipe would defeat the purpose.

FWIW - When getting ready to shave I fill the sink with hot water and toss in a washcloth for preparing my face. While I'm shaving the washcloth is sort of spread out in the water.
I slosh the razor in the water to get the lather off, and the washcloth protects it from contact with the sink in case I slip up.
    Hope this makes sense.

Wiping or Rinsing, I do both. Firstly one of the best investments I have made is a goose neck faucet. Presto, no chance of blade dinging. Cost is minimal compared to the damage possible to just one razor.

I then wipe on micro fiber towels. Once you try them you will never go back. The benefits are
    1. The razor will be much cleaner that toweling or sponge. Check it out under magnification.
    2. The razor will be dry, especially at the pin.
    3. Your hand is dry, Safety no slipping and no water at the pin.
    4. With the Micro fiber in your hand it is easy to clean up your sink area, Mirror & faucet. Great for Glass.
    5. Toss em in the laundry and they are clean and sanitized for the next use. As posted earlier they are super inexpensive at big box stores.

Sponges are notorious for harboring bacteria. Then you want to wipe your razor edge on the bacteria laden surface then, scrape your face with it?

I usually use a plastic Tupperware bowl to rinse my blade, but I think I might try the micro-fiber towel since I have some extras. Thanks for the tip.
