Ouch! I hope you heal quickly. Just keep a careful eye on it so it doesn't get infected.
After my incident with a spike that left a two-inch slash in front of each ear, someone on SRD told me that "once a razor had tasted blood, it would always want more." It becomes a Vampire Razor. Just keep that thought in mind the next time you use that razor.
My Vampire Razor is a Red Imp 132 and it can really bite. I even softened the tip just a bit to no avail.
Glad you are keeping cool about this. Happy Shaving!

Yeah, I was trying a different technique. Keeping the blade diagonal ala a scythe type stroke. Had a bit much pressure.
For the razor it's my wife's great grandfathers. Her mom is trying to get it for me. There is a whole set of razor, brush, mug, and stone. But my uncle in law wants to sell them. I told my MIL I'd pay him for them or send him my frameback wostenholm which would probably be worth a bit more than this razor and the like.
My wife's grandmother is in a nursing home so the family is cleaning out her house. My in laws currently pay for all her care and have sold some of their meager acreage to keep her in a decent nursing home while the other two brothers do nothing but try and get in her house and get the antiques to sell.
I have no illusions about this being a nice set. My wife's great grandfather was an Amish Okie (yes, horse & buggy Amish. Her grandmother got kicked out of the Amish church but there are still Amish in her family). I just think the idea of a family razor is neat. It would also be cool for my boys to know that their great-great grandfather shaved with it.

Thanked: 4ouch is all i can say
i do hope that you can get the razor though, i believe that if you have any way of getting it, jump on it.
if it includes having it accidentally "dropped in a bag and replaced with some cash" (i hope and pray it doesn't go to that lol), then so be it, if i had an opportunity to get a straight razor from family anywhere, i would be all over it, doing anything i possibly could
i think that as a few other people said, offer him a little bit more than his highest offer for it so you can keep it in your family

Thanked: 485My first razor was a square point, a VERY square point, so I guess I developed a lot of respect early on. I find it really tricky when I do the jaw area, I need to watch it doesn't did in to my neck just below my ear.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

If I laughed at you, it'd be like the kettle calling the pot black. I did my first complete shave last night. My wife counted 8 nicks/cuts/ this morning. None were as bad as yours, though. I'm sure that will come after I get "comfortable" with it ! Kind of like riding a motorcycle, when you get to where you're not scared anymore is when you bust your a$$!
My wife also reminded me that her Grandfather gave me all of his shaving stuff 15 years ago a little before he died. I threw it away....
so sad NOW! I hope you get the old razor!!
