I started straight razor shaving a bit more than a month ago, after my tattoo artist turned me on to SRP. Needless to say im 20 plus razors in and im hooked! Each shave is my Zen moment for that day and I cherish it.

    I guess I'm still considered a newbie.

I started using a straight razor 4 months ago. I wanted to see what it was about and was lucky to kinda have a knack for it. I was getting good shaves within 2 weeks and after about 6 weeks put away my cartridge razor and canned foam for good.

Since Christmas of 2009, when I recieved my first straight as a gift. I had been shaving with a couple of vintage DE's for about 4 months prior to that, I didn't want to go from a cartridge to a straight, I thought it would be better to learn on a DE. I'm glad I did, as it gave me respect for the straight after I gave myself a few good scars with the DE!

Started shaving with a Gillette Adjustable DE in 1965.

I'd like to say I've been shaving with a straight for the last 30 years or so but I haven't. I used to be one of those high tech guys who had the latest and greatest and so had a succession of electric razors most of my life. I never really used cartridge types. I experimented with DE's maybe 12 or so years ago and stumbled on the straight around 10 years ago and have been using it since.
