Thread: How many passes is enough for you?

With your best straight razor and best shaving materials, how many passes and in what direction(s) is enough for you to get that super close, smooth-as-a-babies-butt shave?

Two. WTG ATG bam smooth....

3 every day WTG XTG ATG.

I find that, with a well honed razor (thanks Maxi!) I'll be done and ready to go after 2 (1 WTG, 1 XTG).
Most times I'll do an additional XTG pass for my own enjoyment.

For a perfect BBS it's three passes, WTG/XTG/ATG

One WTG, one XTG

Two passes, WTG and XTG. Then touch-ups if my old eyes are working well enough.

Man all you guys who can do a XTG stroke really burn me....My mutant hair growth patterns make it so that it is impossible with a straight to complete an XTG...lucky

Like MWS, two passes does the trick. I add a third, but for many reasons: I get to keep the bathroom door closed longer-no kids, no wife - just me, a razor, grooming stuff, a libation (at times) and some music.

I do one WTG, one a combination of XTG and ATG because the whiskers don't cooperate and grow out in one direction. Sometimes, depending on the razor I can get by with one pass above the jawline but I always need two below. I find if I go three I get a bit of irritation.
