I spent my evening cleaning up my 4th Boker, a 5/8 Good as Gold. I took it out of the scales, used wet and dry to remove a small amount of tarnish from the spine, polished it, then re-pinned the scales. A nice and tight peen, the blade centres perfectly.
Next job is to hone and strop, then get some photos taken for posting in the Boker Brotherhood.

Of my modest quiver of straight razors (13) Boker is the marque of which I own the most-
5/8 Tree Brand w/micarta scales
6/8 Elite
6/8 Silver Steel (older model with jumps)
All are just really nice razors. Each however has its own strong point which, oddly enough is different on the three.
Tree Brand has the best scales
Elite has the best blade shape
Silver Steel has the best edge
Now, if only I could configure all the above into ONE razor....

My opinion is that this blade is one of the best contemporary razors made. Solid performer, great edge potential.
I love this BokerDon't drink and shave!

I'm now waiting for my 6th Boker to arrive...
I'm still searching for that elusive 1056 though!

The image of the previous, Boker 6/8 silver steel shows a far less rounded nose than mine, which has proved not to be any good at shaving around my nose as i shave from either side and not vertically down from under the nose.If you can get an older one ok if not forget it,the Elite and 4/8 extra hollow superb razors,I am afraid this Boker 6/8 is destined for the drawer and loses its place in the rotation waste of good money

Thanked: 52adductum:
Just re-profile the tip into what ever shape you find most effective, if you don't feel comfortable with this kind of mod then send it out to one of our resident craftsmen and they will be happy to do that for you.
