Thanked: 247I feel stupid asking, but I have to...
I have collected a few razors now and rotate through them.
I have learned that it is a great idea to oil them before putting them away (particularly considering that some will spend a fair bit of time in storage before getting used again).
I have also learned to be really careful wiping the blades dry so that the edge is not damaged.
So here comes the question.
How do you guys oil the blade?
I actually searched for videos on this and could not find any...it is perhaps to dang simple to make a video of LOL.
Anyway, thanks for your assistance,
Ken

I dip a cotton swab (Q-tip) in some mineral oil and use it to wipe on the oil.

I hold the bottle with my finger over the opening (it's about 1/4") and give the bottle a flip to wet it. Rub that between my finger and thumb & give the blade a quick swipe, oiling both sides at once.

Thanked: 247I have a bottle with an applicator...what I am not sure of is how guys actually apply the oil to the blade without concern for over application, or damaging the edge.
Generally I make several swipes with the applicator from the spine toward the edge as gently as I can, then wipe the excess off the blade faces with a tissue. Perhaps I am over-thinking this, but it just seems like there ought to be an easier way that wastes less oil (not that I am really wasting all that much, but it would be nice to apply the right amount and not have to remove any.

Thanked: 146Unit, you seem to have skills as far as making stuff. Couldn't you make a bottle with a wick from a kerosene lamp that had oil in it? The wick would stick out the top and you could just draw the blade over it and I would think that would get you the proper amount.

Thanked: 3225Q-Tip and drug store mineral oil, only if I am going away for a time. Just rinse off under hot water and dry with bathroom tissue before use, the same way I do after rinsing the lather off at the end of the shave.

Thanked: 4942I use one of those black applicator bottles too. So long as you go down the length of the blade and don't cut across the edge when applying the oil you should be fine.
Have fun.

I have a jar of cotton balls impregnated with baby oil. Take a cotton ball out and run it across the blade in a stropping type motion.
