Ok - so I did what Lynn stated and ran my blade over the chromium oxide - but there is a twist. I figured as I honed two razors - the two razors I know now to be rather harsh on that first shave off the rocks at the same time, and the same way, I would try them together. Note that the one was used yesterday so it should have calmed down a bit (it is usually one or two shaves before happy shave time).

I used the Revisor to shave the left side of my face, and my Boker to shave my right... man that was weird but you know, it's an experiment.

    The tools:

    The outcome:

Ok so on the first pass with the Revisor that I had used last night, it felt better. Not much, but better. The Boker was a disappointing. That crisp feel came to my face as it normally does.

Pass two: The Revisor is still ok BUT, the Boker is a KING! Smooth as butter. It was almost as though someone had switched out my blade on me. It was weird - truly.

Pass three: Revisor is still chugging away all status quo, but that Boker is giving me the shave of its life lol .

My little conclusion: I haven't used chromium oxide in a long time. I will use it on my Boker from here on in after a hone. I personally think Lynn might have nailed it on the head with this one. As for the Revisor - well I think Glen might have hit the nail on the head in that I don't know if it came off the stones as well as it has in the past. Two shaves, and no butter is poor considering it's past performance.

Take from all that what you will, but I have to tell you something else lol - in all the excitement of the test... I forgot to strop my blades altogether LOL

    Apparently the Boker didn't care!!
