It's a double edge sword at times. However, one thing I WILL NOT lend is money. Money and repayment near always begets hostility. As far as a blade goes, I did lend a buddy of mine at work a Dovo round point to try and see if he would get into SR shaving. He did got his own and accidentally dinged it on the sink (not a week after I made the same FUBAR), so in empathy I lent him one of my two ebony spikes. Luckily he is an awesome and very responsible guy, and actually bought the razor from me he liked it so much. I even offered to re-hone his dinged edge for buying the blade off me. When it comes to lending anything I kinda go by this rule...it's crazy sounding, but it has worked to my advantage. When someone asks to borrow something, I go and look at their car, truck, or motorcycle or whatever they drive. If it's a nasty heap of a mess, I decline, b/c I can tell that something that costs that much money isn't given a thought of being taken care of; how much effort are they willing to put into something say like a razor that isn't even theirs. If their vehicles are clean, no trash in the floorboards, and haven't got "wash me" smudges caked in mud and dirt, I can reason that this person takes care of their investments, and understands the value of maintaining them; thus, they are usually more inclined to treat another's property with the same or more care and respect. My $.02, even if it's weird...makes sense to me.

I think it is but as maddafinga points out giving it to him and walking away is another form of passing it forward. No one is wrong in this case. You are lending him stuff to learn and that in itself might be more valuable.
Perhaps you'll want to lend him your alum block LOL!! I always rub my fingers on mine to create grip. To this day I haven't dropped one - yet.
Bummer that your blade broke bro - but it lived it's life and if he's willing to help you get one like it back... but no, it'll never be the same.David

Thanked: 116Not a single parent but the wife lost 75% of her income when we got posted from Ontario to Nova Scotia. We're doing OK and have a little savings for our son but the line of credit isn't looking too pretty! We rent a PMQ from the military as housing prices skyrocketed before we came out here. The only people around here that own homes are cases where both spouses are military members or were posted here before the increase in housing cost.

I've got so many friends that are military, and are now divorced, seperated, or getting divorced b/c one or the other just couldn't deal w/ the lifestyle that comes w/ the service. BIG kudos to you and your wife for sticking it out together and making the best. Best of luck to both of you.

Shooter - It is members like you who make this forum such a great and pleasurable experience. Talk about PIF!!! My man, you have defined the phrase by your generosity. Hopefully, you have made life better not only for brooksie but also his friend who must have been feeling terrible about the incident and worrying just how he was going to make up for it. As brooksie said, money doesn't grow on trees and I am certain his friend has no more financial resources than he does. What goes around comes around. I think others will agree, you are an inspiration to all of us here at SRP.
