The cursed one (thats pronounced cur - sed)... I have one. It came to me in miserable condition. A rusty nail held the frowning blade into is filthy scales. The only razor I have come across with mud on it. Had it not come with a thuringian hone, I would have never considered buying it.
I disassembled it, cleaned it up, and honed the frown out of it. Everything seemed to be looking bright for the cursed one, but it would not hone. I tried and tried, but could not get a decent bevel. It fought me until I gave up, so I sat it aside. I made several attempts to hone this thing, and gave up, figuring the geometry was just too much for the steel (lots of hone wear). I don't know why the cursed one called to me this one last time, but I went back to it. I didn't understand why all of a sudden it took a bevel and then magically decided it wanted to become a shaver again.
But it all makes sense now. The cursed one was toying with me. Dragging out my frustration until I was ready to toss it into the reject pile. Only then would it allow its edge to become sharp, and it became sharp when it was ready.
That would be fine if it was the end of the story, but it isn't. The cursed one has a taste for blood. This razor is the only razor that has cut my neck while shave testing my usual patch. The tip just cut right in. It has cut me every time I have used it. Its cut my nose, my lip, and it even got me on the back of my neck with the heel! I was head shaving there, obviously.
I've put it in time out, but I will be back to show it who's boss.

I would agree with Castel33.. Use her for about two week and learn how to control that beast, if not she gets mad you only take her out once and awhile.

Robellison01.. Out of all the SRP info and stories I've ever read about straights, on this blog or others, that my friend was the best. I had a tear running down my face and it wasn't from a cursed razor

I'd just get rid of it. I find I shave better with heavier grind razors also. It just depends on how many times you are willing to get cut. With time I am sure you will adjust your technique to the razor, why not just find another similar razor to the two you have that you are happy with. -Scott

Thanked: 116I had two beautiful vintage king cutters. 5/8 square and 6/8 round. Sold both of them as they always seemed to bite me on my jaw line.

I had a Henckels 7/8 that drew blood on every shave for 6 months. I tried everything including honing it, sending it out to be honed and lastly muting the square point. A couple weeks ago, I decided to sell my Vampire. Because it had the original scales and they were a bit worn, I decided to make some horn scales to get a little more money on eBay. The scales came out beautiful and I figured I'd give the razor one last try.
It's been 4 shaves since and no blood. I don't know if, in my hand, I needed a weightier set of scales or if this is psychological, but it worked.
