Georgetown G12 Cream Scuttle
So, as some may know from a thread about post-shave balms, I had a little extra dough this month to spend, but not enough to buy any real gear (strops, blades, hones, or brushes), so I decided I'd go with some new creams, balms, and cheaper, smaller accoutrements.
It's getting cold quickly here in Bavaria, and the lack of central heating is always painfully apparent in the bathroom in my girlfriend's flat. I had just about 60 USD left in my budget, and got to looking over some shaving scuttles. After looking around on all the big name shaving sites, I stumbled upon a post about Georgetown Pottery, and gave them a look. As I've come to find is quite usual, their shipping methods on the checkout wouldn't allow for USPS shipping (required for my location), so I was afraid all was lost. I buckled down, though, and waited until the evening (when the East Coast is actually awake) and asked. I don't remember the lady's name, but this very sweet woman answered the phone and immediately knew what my problem was. She said just place the order, and they would take it straight away to the post office.
Sure enough, 2 hours later, I got an email with tracking number from USPS. Needless to say, I am glad that the customer service aspect was a very pleasant experience. I'll follow this up with a review of the performance of the scuttle and my first proper warm lather shave. I expect it to be in no later than Thursday, but I am quite pleased with the purchase and was too excited to wait til then to post about it.Last edited by vmathis12019; 10-05-2013 at 06:36 PM. Thanked: 1195Congrats on the G12. You can't go wrong with a Georgetown scuttle, the craftsmanship is superb. I got a G20 a few months ago and couldn't be happier.
Be sure to post your impressions when it arrives. I haven't heard much at all about the new G12 and am curious about other's opinions.

Thanked: 1263Been thinking about ordering a G12 for myself for awhile now so I'm very interested to hear your thoughts on it. I've had a G5 for a few years and absolutely love it even if just using it as a lather bowl. The fit and finish are great, a piece of functional art to say the least.

Thursday morning and it still hasn't arrived. It didn't scan out of Maine until Tuesday morning, though, so it's possible it might come with today's delivery or tomorrow's. I hope to pick it up and take it straight home for a shave, so you gents will know about it as soon as it gets here!

I've got a g12 arriving as a birthday present also, I'll let you know what I think as well. I've been trying all sorts of methods for keeping lather warm, none of which has been a great solution. The Georgetown scuttles looked to be good quality and reasonably priced.

vmathis12019,
I have a scuttle from a different maker but the concept is the same. You will love the warm lather, it will spoil you especially on cold mornings. Ahhh! Life is good!"If You Knew Half of What I Forgot You Would Be An Idiot" - by DoughBoy68
