    Default M&D Canada Thomas Turner

Fresh in the mail this morning, a Thomas Turner M&D (Militia and Defense) Canada razor. Happy to have got it.

Thanks and yea the condition and the fact that it was Canada related made me jump on it when I saw it at auction. Bonus is that it shaves nicely to boot.

Thanks, at one time a cast brass, I think it was, beaver on a log was at the top of mast on Canadian naval ships. They seemed to have disappeared over the years somehow. I wonder why?

I never knew that...sheesh...to think at the end of WWII, Canada had the 4th largest Navy in the World, all the troops and supplies that went out of Halifax...just another Canadian tradition swept away.

It's amazing how such a piece of Canadian history could be summed up in something as simple as a razor...beautiful...couldn't be in better hands!

    Cheers and thanks!

Sorry to revive an old thread but in a search I've come across 3 of these Thomas Turner MD Canada razors exactly like the OP
Of the 3 I have, 1 is slightly used and 2 are brand new in box with M&D Canada gold embossed on the boxes

Would anyone have any further information on them?

Would these be WW1 military issued razors or just store bought? Any idea of dates?
The ones I have say 1918 on the blade

Nice cache of M&D razors. Sorry I don't have any more info on them. They could have been WWI issue, who knows, or just store bought. The 1918 seems to have been added later as the engraving looks different.

There was a similar razor made by W&B 2 Vintage Straight Razors Wade Butcher M&D Militia & Defence Canada Northfield .

    Thanks for posting.

    HI Bob

    Thanks

The 1918 is electro etched just like the original engraving of the beaver and is on all 3. The positioning is exactly the same on all 3 leading me to believe that the date was etched at the same time as the Beaver and Canada.

    BTW, how do they shave?

I have 11 razors in total and only use 2 and have never used these ones......yet.

    Regards
