Every time I see your name on a new post it is with some trepidation that click in. It's not a bad thing (I have nothing but admiration), there are just some here, like you, who are simply on another level, or if I were to use some melodrama, another plane of existence.

Thanks guys.
As I was trying to wrap up the transition another 15 Straights showed up. Now my row of W&Bs are complete.
Also , though they're womens razors these curved pieces ( Just bend a DE blade) were interesting to see as well as the one with the round blade.
The Griffon, a great shaver , has the original tin with a brass plate with a blade clipped to it and an insert for the base of the handle where the adapter goes to hold the blade for honing /stropping. Patent on the back reads 1896. Saw just the tin on line go for $115 and the tin, razor but in the box go for $795. Shocking. I paid $20 for mine with the tin.
And that's a W&B curved, rigid DE blade ( quite thick) stamped Wade and Butcher with the arrow and cross on it.

Ahhhh,, well,,,,, Yes it is. And all the razors in there are former GDs.
Wanna see what I did to them?
And a couple others. Some are novelty in nature. But some have cool scales.
It was done for a competition on some other forum. I built a 7 day set keeping one original so you could see the transformation of the other 6 in comparison. The case I built and carved on the lid " And on the 7th day,,,,"
Yeah, you rest. Meaning THAT'S the day you can't shave because the 7th razor is the orig. GD! Hah! They don't shave unless modified.
The other 6 are heavily modified with spine work, blablabla but can shave easily with the best I have. Hate to admit it,, but it's true.
If you're curious I'll post them. And the others I've built. And to paraphrase Hart... these are from another plane of existence.Last edited by mycarver; 05-25-2014 at 10:11 PM.

I do not think that all of that will fit into that one new chest... Better pick up at least a couple more chests for the overflow.
Amazing collection. Thanks for sharing.

Thanked: 3215I am in the process of re-felting a couple of Wooden Machinist chests, a Union and a Gerstner for razor storage.
On the tool and Gerstner forums there is an active discussion about Wool vs Acrylic fabric store felt.
Supposedly some say Acrylic Felt promotes rust. Did you take that into consideration and do you know if it is true?
Nice chest.

I was not aware of this. I can't say for sure what mine is truthfully.
Worse comes to worse I'll swap it out for some flannel. They had quite a selection of that. Also , a bit much , might be velvet. Some of the drawers don't really need it.Last edited by mycarver; 05-27-2014 at 03:02 PM.
