    Default Finally got a DE

Seems everyone has one but me! Never even tried one, but have used a Gem SE, which was very good. My straight collecting has gone pretty much full-circle, so I figured an old DE would be cool. I did not want anything new, anything like what everyone else has, Gillette, meh. Since Henckels straights are some of my faves, I have absconded with an old Henckels Henso. They ran from 1914-WWII. Supposedly not too aggressive, between an old and new type Gillette, I read.
This one looked like it had been drug thru the war. The case is super dented and scratched. The head of the razor looked the same, so I polished it down to brass. The handle was green and filthy, took a lot of scrubbing.
Pretty neat razor, I think. I will give it a run on my Sunday SOTD!

No pun intended but I think you've gotta gem there (ok, double pun intended).

So now you'll be giving up the straights before too long ....... slippery slope, but think of all the DEs you'll have to buy ........

Love the knurling on that handle not like the fake pressed stuff you see so much of these days. Have fun with it.

Pretty neat buy. I went on a 5 week kick with one. Very handy and novel. I like the aggressive Gem single that I have as well.

UhhhOH! Handy and novel? What have I gotten myself into, Siguy? I really just liked the heavy-duty brass-knurled looks, fat handle, and the heft. Oh! And the twins! What is one like to shave with? All I have are some platinum Personna blades. The different Gems I have tried vary widely in aggressiveness. Which Gem are you referring to?
    Thanks!

LOL. I was just about to correct myself. Novel implies something entirely different than the totality of that which I intended to communicate. I wanted to add "and very useful".

I have a Gem Micromatic single edge. The DE I have is a Gillette. The Micromatic is aggressive or so I'm told. I don't have anything to compare it to aside from cartridges and straights.

Oh, you've probably seen it 10x or more http://www.shaving101.com/index.php/...ght-blade.html

Personna looks middle of the road. I had Feather. I like the sharpness. It wasn't nearly as scary as some made it sound. Then again, what do I have to compare it too??
