Sadly only half a box and it didn't seem to be connected to the razor. Still, I'm very happy to own it.

Also happy that Colin didn't scoop it up.

It is a very nice example and those scales are pretty rare. Most Bismarcks are black or cream scales with the inlay.

I believe if you had the box it would tell you it's English silver steel, Ground in Germany. By A. Muller.

I see a lot of these on German French English and American Ebay. Most fall into either 5/8 or 6/8 with the solid scales. I believe they were made with the Weisbaden market in mind. The box stamp has a Wiesbaden coat of arms, The name Wiesbaden, and one of the buildings of the town. Wiesbaden - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurhaus,_Wiesbaden

They were all ground between 1900 and 1930. I believe for occupying allied forces and tourism at the time. The German examples with Ges Geschutzt are slightly rarer. One of my own is both a Ges Geschutzt and a registered. Having the German stamped blade with registered scales.

Some blades have no monkey tail stamp. I do not believe these blades are any poorer at shaving than the stamped
Just took a light polish to the monkey tail and as it turns out, it's a Geschutzt.
