Size: 40.3 KB Well i saw this newly listed at a price i couldn't believe so without thinking i pressed buy now. Now i wait to find out if i will like it or not. I don't know if it is 5/8 or 6/8 . it does look like the later. It also looks like it has not been honed before. both sides look clean and the scales look like horn. If nothing else i can have fun honing it and shave with it a few times. I wonder how long i can keep it a secret. then when she notices it i can say this old thing . I've had it for ever

Just tell her you are fixing it up for me. I think you are right about the width.

I believe this is a very heavily modified example of this version, judging by the stamp, which had some variations over the years:

It is definitely heavily reground, and likely originally had the barbers notch and more curved spine shape. This later reshaping was common with older razors. The scales are highly likely not original, they look like more modern gutta percha to me but it's impossible to say until they are in hand. Certainly not period pins.

All that said, nice razor! The reshaping doesn't take away from its long history.

My habit for buying sharp things (knives and razors) and her clothing and shoe collecting led my wife and I to make the "$500" rule. We both work and have separate bank accounts apart from the household one, so as long as all bills are covered then we can freely spend up to $500 without letting the other know.
    It works great

Ahh I remember when I talked to my wife (just a few months prior to her agreeing to become my wife) if I could buy the Ducati I wanted.
Her response was its your money you can do what you want. Now say that in your head with your wife using an angry tone and That's exactly how it was.
I knew she meant NO. She knew that I knew she meant NO.
But I also knew that I could buy the bike and she couldn't really get mad at me because she said I could do what I wanted.
Now this was a 1 shot deal I knew I would never ever ever have her tell me that again if I went ahead and bought it, but sometimes you just got to go for it.
Still have the bike but my daily ride is now an old Kawasaki, cause the plates are so expensive on the Duck now.
Basically i'm saying cheer up she wont stay mad at you forever

Well at what i gave for it i think i can hone it to shave ready (i will shave with it) and then let it go for what i gave for it. i enjoy honing and playing with these things so i want loose anything. I'm retired and have the time.

Wife says we're broke. And I replied, "Then why can I still charge things on the card?"

She's still gonna kill me though.
