That is one of these once-in-a-long-time finds. Incredibly beautiful - congratulations!

Just an observation - but the wording on the plaque looks more US to me rather than British. I have a hunch that it would have been more formal if it was a British regiment - using something like Corps instead of men.
I googled spat hooks and came up with very similar images to the one in the set. The long instrument could be a nail file and spike for cleaning underneath the nails. My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

Thanked: 44The knife is very similar in shape to one my Nana had, circa 1900. Her's was also ivory, but in the shape of a woman's leg. She told me it was for "ladies nail grooming", which fits in with the other implements you have there. Congratulations, great find

That's a relatively standard, very deluxe gentleman's travel toiletry kit. I've seen one other exactly like it.
If all my research subscriptions hadn't lapsed while I move, I'd track the owner down. I suspect that WW243 is on the right track.-Zak Jarvis. Writer. Artist. Bon vivant.
