For a few dollars more
While at my buddies barber shop today.. (Delivering his Genco, master Barber. That I cleaned and honed today) one of his customers told me about a antique store thats been in the down town area of Akron for 70 years.
Soooo...... Yep!!! Gotta go check it out. Here's what followed me home.
A 5/8 Royal Keen Kutter
The Celebrated Razor
A 6/8 no name square point
And a 6/8 Sheffield square point.
Thats flawless
Plus they give a 10% discount on purchases of $50. or more [emoji106]
Never liked down town Akron,
Might have to visit it more often [emoji1]Mike

Thanked: 250Nothing wrong with a no name. I have an old one and it gives me excellent shaves. In fact it comes up in my rotation next week Wednesday. This Sunday morning I have a date for Soap Cocktails with my Wade and Butcher.

In the past I had the opportunity to shave with a Livi and compare it to my favorite no name. Both had edges honed by extremely competent honers. I must say, my no name razor gave me a slightly better feeling shave than the Livi. Taught me to always evaluate by the shave and not the name. Something a lot of newbies should take heart off before they go gaga over the looks and not the shave of any razor.

Thanked: 39Nice score!, I have a Antique store about 30 or so miles away from me that has about 15 or so Straights, but they want $60.00 to $75.00 bucks for them I talked the lady there down to $60.00 (she wanted $75.00) for a Genco Grant. I almost have it ready to shave, taking it nice and slow on the 8K Norton. She's there checking E-Bay while I ask her about it.

Ive got one like that too.
The vendor thinks his razors are solid gold. The bad part is their real junkers, and I mean junk.
Cracks, gator bites instead of chips, heavyheavy hone wear and thick rust. All marked $60 or better. Like worse than wall of shame stuff on ebayLast edited by outback; 01-16-2016 at 01:43 AM.
