Let's see ..... How some were done, esp in one of a pair so the writing could be all right-side-up as the box was opened.

Thanked: 2284I see, so it's possible this was one, from a set of 2. I think I know exactly what your talking about. The two would lay flat in the box, kinda like the Yin Yang symbol.

Was just reading the part when my jaw dropped and you said you, "passed on the Diamond Edge", I was madly about to begin typing a PM to you to pick it up for me when I read you came to your senses (wink, wink) and grabbed it, has a bit of wear, but it looks fantastic, the etch looks pristine on the blade face, thumb notch, and the scales, with that gold, marvelous, awesome find.
The Canadian razor gods shined on you with that one....

Thanked: 2284To be honest, at first glance the hone wear plays tricks on the eyes, making the toe look thinner than the heel. It's what my eyes told my brain initially, and then I lost interest. I wasn't even sure after I left if the scales were horn or not because there was no wedge. I was off my game that day, maybe in too much of a hurry. But your right, and I even wondered what the hell I was thinking when I walked away the first day. It needs some work, probably put a led wedge in. The wedge now is what you typically see in the early honey horn rescales, when it's built into the ends of the 2 piece scales. The rust on the tang is shallow, and should come away without much work.

TBH, a lot of that heavy, uneven wear is the result of pasted strops back in the day, IMO.
Getting them back through the stones can be trouble, as we all know.
