I've learned I don't need anything more than a good Thurigan, or Escher, to enjoy a blissful shave.
JNats...no thanks.! I've shaved for years off one stone, and of less quality than what I have now. Its all in your techniques.
The stone doesn't make the edge, compared to the hand doing the honing.Mike

I plan on getting a thuri in the future but will hold off till next year. Going to learn this one first. I thought about bigger but then Outback reminded me about the warped or wonky blades. Too wide of a stone causes the need to rock the blade so i went with 2 inch. Thanks Mike for pointing that out.

Nice! Good luck in your Coticule endeavors!
I can't tell for sure, but it looks it has a grainy/woodsy type surface?
I for one favor those type of Coticules, they always give me very smooth edges
If you can post a close-up pictures of the surface and a picture os the side, a layer determination might be possible to do by people more knowledgable than meLast edited by TristanLudlow; 09-26-2017 at 09:16 PM.

Thanked: 3226Found a full bottle of Yardley Citrus Wood EdT at the Salvation Army Store for $5.00. Worth a shot at that price and it turns out to have a pleasing scent.

Thanked: 156Oh...beautifull coti.
That's a La Grise form the Ol'Preu quary.
Should be
Medium hard or a bit on the soft side....
Moderatly fast on slurry.
Slow on water only.
Provide a realy nice and mellow edge if finished with light strokes under running water.
Enjoy it lovely stone to get into coticules!

Close-ups as best as my phone can do. Then cropped with computer program. I'm pretty proud of myself learning how to crop in the last month. LOL.
To me it looks like it came from the Speck-ally vein. It's just Sharpening, right?

Looks like I will be breaking out the Coti tomorrow. Spent too many hours working on CB Radios today. Now my back hurts and its time for some aspirin and beer. Maybe a shot or two to make it go down better. Or should I say to make me go down better.
