Before seeing all this, no, I wouldn't have guessed you could, no... Just the brown slurry is a bit odd.
Yesyesyes, I almost regret having asked for more pictures. That we know it's you guys who found all this just makes it slightly less painful to look at these gorgeous unreachable goodies.
No kidding: great haul! Congrats!

Thanked: 488You never know what you'll find buried in an old box and buried is right they many times are. My best find this year was a Belgian BBW/Coticule natural that appeared to never have been used and had part of the large sticker on the Coti side. $10 whole bucks for it along with a Bengall very large wedge for $10 that needed very little work to bring it back to life. Most of us didn't even know Bengall made a large wedge!
Looking is half the fun:-)

Thanks to all for you wonderful feedback. I have to take another look at the hone and see for sure what color the slurry was. First thing in the morning isn't the best time to make observations especially when getting ready for work.
We forgot to post pics of the Prolific. Sorry. Here ya go.“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)

I just posted some new pics here http://straightrazorpalace.com/advan...tml#post417447
Looks like the brown slurry may just have been a crud build up.

So THAT is what the Damascus blade etching looks like when it is in great condition. Simply beautiful! Mine is mostly eroded. What a nice razor.
