My New (Poor...) Escher
So I bought an escher off of a member and waited soooo excitedly....I waited, and waited, and waited.
And I had given up, because the tracking number wasn't even showing it in JAPAN, after nearly three weeks. I figured it was gone.
Then, today, three weeks to the day after it was sent, I got a little slip in my mailbox...an international package was waiting for me! I did a little Escher dance, and off to the post office.
And on getting the box, I understood why it had taken so long.
The box had BURST INTO FLAME.
Someone had nicely wrapped it in plastic, and put a note on there explaining "Hey, this must have happened in America, cause it was like it when we got it. We swear!"
The stone was fine, though a little chocolatey from the rather unique use of Reeses cups as packing material (Thank you! They're still sweet!) and here it is...my Dark Blue Escher! It's been through hell and back, but it's still ready to hone!

That is great Jim. Once you go to the Escher you'll never bother with that grungy Nakayama again.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Congratulations! I liked the story, even though I'm sure it was frustrating to you. It looks like a real nice stone.

Congratulations Jim! I agree with everyone else who said you are gonna love the shaves you get off the Escher. That has been my experience too. I might use a coticule to get close to shave ready, but the Escher is now my finisher.

Wow Jim,
How little I know of naturals. I thought the Japanese water stones were suppose to be the ones with mysterious powers! You must be careful to keep this stone away from combustable materials. Don't even think about a wooden box for that one
