Ramon, I very much admire and envy your Torrey "American Chopper". I am sure it will become a favorite shaver. I also have an American chopper, but it is sadly pitted, except on the edge. Just did a one pass shave with it this morning that was close to BBS, no fooling! It is big ugly Worcester with Bakelite scales, and has a 15/16 blade. American steel is second to none!

Ramon - Please don't think that I am questioning your veracity, but I was wondering what indicates that this razor is a Torrey? The monogram on the blade look to contain the letters ARS, while a Torrey should have a monogram with the letters JRT. Is there some other means to identify the maker? Just curious.

That top razor is definitely a Torrey. I've seen many others with that same marking. I'd also bet that, like all others I've seen, it says Torrey on the tang (though it may not be visible in the picture). Can't argue with tang stamps, unless you have reason to believe you're looking at a knockoff. That's not the case here.
I must say I have been curious, though, as to why those letters appear on Torreys.

I've always found the etched Torrey emblem to be very attractive - simple, elegant, and intriguing (I too am still not sure what all the letters stand for). Very nice find at a very sweet price.
