I've occasionally thought how an @-mention feature would be nice. Imagine a post where I say, "I don't rinse my blade, I wipe the lather on my forearm; got the idea from @edhewitt, so I can sue him when it goes south and I slice a tendon." Ed would see a notification that I'd mentioned him in a post.

Pretty cool, though not a feature I've ever seen in a forum, as far as I can recall.
