    Disk space is pretty cheap and when we need more we can get more. In fact, from time to time upgrading to bigger server is cheaper.

    I prefer to use Zenfolio and will continue to post my photographs accordingly.

    You can certainly do as you like, I just pointed out that saving disk space is not a good reason. The main drawback for using external storage has already been pointed out, and so far we have allowed people to do so regardless of it. If, at some point we decide to stop it we will, it is pretty simple to do.

    As said, use a smaller image format in the camera settings or one of the photo software programs. IrfanView is a small, free, easy to use photo editor, for simple editing like resizing.

    Start the program, go to File/open, find your photo, go to Image, Resize/Resample, there you can select from several different sizes or input the size you want, then save the new photo and you have original and the smaller resized photos
