[fawr-uh m, fohr-uh m]
noun, plural fo·rums, fo·ra [fawr-uh, fohr-uh] /ˈfɔr ə, ˈfoʊr ə/.
1. the marketplace or public square of an ancient Roman city, the center of judicial and business affairs and aplace of assembly for the people.
I never understood the guys who barked the “look it up” mantra.
If you don’t want to answer the guys question, let someone else do it. Yes, there is tons of information buried in the forum, but knowing where to start digging, can be a problem. It is a Public Place, engage or not.
Fortunately, most of those guys are gone now, rarely is there a post or question that goes unanswered, and even responses to pedestrian questions are filled with good information.
I try to think of the hundreds of other guys who will read a post, wanting the same information and never asking.
Yes, the search is somewhat lacking, but Google will often find the answer and link it right back to the forum. Why is that?

That shows some of the trickiness of the search function. I just typed in
'second try honing' and got this: https://sharprazorpalace.com/honing/...ggestions.html

Thanked: 556They can’t follow you if you wrap your head in foil, but it has to be the heavy duty bbq kind, not the cheap ass bargain stuff.

Thanked: 556A real benefit of SRP lies in the connections to be made among members.
The connections often start with a question or a request for and offering of advice. Rhere is great value in that aspect of the forum.
There is a significant collective memory here that gets preserved in the archived threads and posts. I don’t think making it easier to access that incredible database of information and experience will reduce the other relationship building that occurs among the members. It might even reduce the frustration some senior members feel when confronted with the same questions they’ve answered many times before.David
