I know this was a couple of pages back but I think It might be worth another look.
Josh said this:
I think you can get away with as few a moderator actions as in the past. What might have to be done is that the moderators might have to step in earlier. Being a mod is kind of like herding sheep, one sheep is easy to steer, five hundred takes a little pre-planing to turn so three thousand have to be started on their turn even sooner.

Thanked: 9Come on guys - I have seen this done in groups much larger than this one. People are all civil in the *normal* threads and the *No holds barred* is hilarious... but you better have thick skin, Anything is game there
Nevertheless, it is mostly funny, not abusive. I guess it depends on the people! (=us, in this case)
Cheers

Sorry to see this. There were some decent threads in that forum, and it was nice to share different aspects of our lives with each other...besides our osbession with shaving
I've made several friends here over the past 6 months, it is just one less median to communicate with them. Unfortunate situation for all I guess.

If I directed any of those comments to any one of you specifically, face to face, I'm sure you'd take great offense. Well, because you're on the other end of an internet connection doesn't change your responsibility to be civil.
And, as has been proven so many times now, many of you are unwilling to accept a moderator telling you to stop what you're doing when you're violating our rules... instead you want to argue about whether it's an offense, whether it's fair, whether whatever!
Well folks, here's the facts:- We WILL live by the rule of law here. If you live by the rule of law then you have to live by all the rules... you can't disregard the one(s) you disagree with.
- Each of us is responsible for our own conduct and when we joined the site we agreed to live by the rules. ALL of them! We are each responsible for ensuring that our own personal conduct IS compliant.
- The Moderators are chartered with helping members resolve problems navigating the site, providing general guidance, etc. Moderators are also responsible for ensuring there is compliance with the rules within the forums. Many of you frequently contact a Moderator or Administrator in a civil and non-threatening way when you disagree with something and discuss it like gentlemen/women. But some of you don't make contact in a civil way, and that's not acceptable. Moderators MUST must be shown respect, whether you agree with their actions or not.
As we move forward, those of you that remain silent with the intent of continuing to not follow the rules must change your position... else there will be no forum because the vast majority who have indicated that they wish to live in a civil atmosphere ruled by law may leave. Indeed, the prognosis of an empty shell may be true.Last edited by azjoe; 09-19-2007 at 01:56 AM. Reason: correct typo

Thanked: 4942Guys,
Joe's position is my position here. If you think this is a joke, please feel free to participate and tear up another forum. I have seen a few people since the very first forum spoil the enjoyment of the majority, try to destroy the reason we are here and I can assure you that this type of behavior will no longer be allowed in any manner. Call it what you want. The behavior exhibited in this forum as a result of a person who stirs it up not only in this forum, begging to be banned and posting nothing but self serving accusations and childish name calling will simply not be tolerated.
To those of you who continue to contribute on a positive basis, I can only apologize for those who cannot and hope that the information here as well as the members who are here to help you make it worthwhile.
For those of you who would rather fight with each other in public, please find a religious, political science or purely argumentative forum and knock yourselves out. Our boards will not be used for these purposes.

At the risk of being redundant, this is Lynns house, he sets the rules, we abide by them or go elsewhere!

FWIW I stand behind Joe and Lynn. They (together with Dave and the mod-squad) work hard to keep this the friendly community that I love being a member of. We should all cooperate with them, to make their management of this place as smooth as possible.

Sounds peachy to me and settled ---I suppose there is no more debate.
So does someone want to define the rules ---I mean for real?
