What would you base that poll on? Grunt work - Dave Wessel? Help - Glen? Acidic responses - trial by combat?

On second thought, maybe Dave could analyse the amount of rep points/thanks ammassed each month. That would work. No jury is good jury.

P.S. How about trial by wombat? We could then ask Jimbo to make JimboWom strops...

Well, I am not sure there would be. Like I said, I was just putting it out there. Yes, we are all adults here and I am sure in this type of circumstance we could put petty differences aside.

I was thinking more about debates involving the relative merits of the nominated candidates. Even when conducted in a gentlemanly fashion, that type of thing is generally best kept out of public view. Feelings can and do get hurt.

No no, you got me wrong.What I meen by a poll, is basicaly this: A list of people, each person must be nominated by someone else.Lets say each member is given one nomination.The person with most nominations would win.
Another alternative would be that all the nominates would be on a list, and then people would have to stop nominating lets say by the last week of the month, and then they would vote for that week.The winner could be announced in the beg. of the next month.

with the aproach mentioned, there would be no real need to mention the reason for nominating/voting for someone.

I don't want to get deeply into this conversation here, but I keep thinking of one thing that hasn't been mentioned yet– repeat nominations/winners. I mean depending on criteria, rules, or lack thereof, I think it is pretty safe to say that you would often see someone like Glen or Bruno as the final guy. With this in mind, basing it on how many thanks/rep points one gets each month is out. The best option might be that once a member has 'won' they become ineligible for it in the future. Doing that would knock out the option of any random person just throwing in a nomination though too I'd say. I think you'd see a lot of new members voting for people who had won maybe 2 and 3 months back... they just haven't been around long enough to see it.

Anyway– Cool idea. There are obviously lots of logistics to work on to keep it fun.
