Guys... And mabye gals.. I just wanted to say thanks for all of the discussion.. This site is best when you help to guide it..

My post before about server upgrades was made when I was tired.. And i wish to retract it. If we do charge for the classifieds, the funds would go into the giveaways.. Does that affect anyones opinions?

    Thanks
    David

Where the money goes doesn't affect my position. If the main idea is to help stop people from unloading their junk here, then I stand by the idea that people looking to unload their junk are more likely to pay a couple bucks to list, akin to ebay, than to spend enough time here to hit 100 posts.

Currently we are thinking something along the lines of:

    100 posts and > 1 month membership
    OR
    50 posts and > 3 month membership
    OR
Waiver from a supermod or admin

The first 2 options are to insure that we have to do with a real member, and not someone who registered to offload some junk (or maybe not junk, but you know what I mean).

The last option is to give us a way to bend the rules, in case someone doesn't post much but has been a member for a long time. It would also let us make exceptions for genuine experts who are members, but who do not post excessively, like Tim Zowada or Mike Blue.

Btw, we don't do this just to protect people. But we just don't want people to a)sell crap in our place b)profit from SRP without contributing.

Default Another points of a n00b

I was reading this discussion as part of finding if I am allowed to post some of my stuff here. I was thinking more about trading it rather than selling. Im more reading than posting memeber as with so many very skilled and knowlegeable contributors what can I say that it would be meaningful and usefull to others? I can post my questions. Perhaps some knowledge which is more of general nature rather than specialezed for this forum e.g about shops and suppliers. And that is it. Another option is to leave my dignity aside and just to tick the box into bracket of 100+ post by expresing my moods in writing regardless if it is appropriate or not. Sad isn't it. Now back to the originalpost.
Firstly about paying for new members like me. Personaly I think if I have to pay I have to pay but what will happen if dodgy trader pays the money and than posts all that mentioned crap here? Again n00bs who do not kknow the value of thing will get cought. I would like to see what would admin do about it? Pull the post? I can hear the dodgy seller saying something like"Sorry I have paid for it to be advertised tough!" How would you go against it? If it is not paid moderated forum pulling the dodgy post is much easier than trying to deal with legal aspects of paid advertisement.
So far contributors to this jink concentrated on "shave ready" razors. Do we not use more than just straights? Me personaly I am still looking for straight which will give me nice comfortable shave therefore I am getting different straights to try. I am learning how to take care of my razors therefore I am getting more stones in in order to find which will work for me. I am learning how to renovate my gear and again I am getting more tools and material in. In mean time I am studying post on forums like this to avoid usual beginners mistakes and not to buy something what i will not need. You can be as much carefull I you want but you will gather quite bit of stuff which you do not need not because it is crap but because it does not suit you and yor way of doing things. What to do with it? What to do with my old e.g. DE razors and some natural stones which are sought for by koleagues here and who are often annoyed about ebay prices? There are two ways either go to ebay and risk that you sell your loved past pasion to somebody for who it will be just way how to make money and perhaps you will be lucky to even make some profit. The other way is lets post few ooo, aargh, +1 style post to be over required limit (just for fun how many of them you can find on this forum within 10mins limit) and post it here. As it is at present there is no choice here for somebody who values their dignity and this community is loosing valuable potential. Remember new commers are often very active and resourcefull and will do something what more senior members already set-up can not be bothered to do and can dig out of junk yards a lot of treasure valued by everybody. And me personaly I would rather to keep these treasures (e.g. recently I had few natural stones in my hands which were mentioned in this forum) in the community rather than selling it to another middleman.
    What are mine suggestions?
As sub 100 post member to be allowed only to BUY or TRADE no direct selling. Trading only 1 item at the time with guarantied return of goods if the barter was unsatisfactory to the other side. Next trade could be posted after the feedback would be received inthe selling post. The header of the traiding post could be of different colour to inform that the trader is NEW MEMBER. For the SELLING this only to be allowed ONLY one at the time via another senior member who could guarantie the acuracy of the description and the feedback from such transaction would go back to both the new member. and his guarant too.
Sorry for my written diaorhea here I was trying my best to put it in the way I feel about it and still make it usefull.
