What about all razors are listed as "honed" but not shave ready, or unhoned and not shave ready?

Anyway, so what exactly is the process if a complaint is received? Wouldn't we rather have the two parties work it out between themselves first? Or would there first be a complaint, then the razor is sent to the "jury" who then renders a verdict?

I'm sorry if this is already posted somewhere. Just want to know all the details of how the new system works.

Let me be Devil's advocate here, is it my understanding that the Mods will have the final say on what is and isn't shave ready? Am I understanding this correctly?

It has always been my understanding that the parties work it out amongst themselves, not in open forum, (so SRP doesn't get trashed in the process) If SRP steps in on every newbie complaint, you are treading dangerous ground. Most new shavers cannot hold the razor corrctly, let alone shave with it.

Actually the Administrators have the final say, that's how it's always been - it's in the terms everybody accepted in order to become a member

As far as what the process is, it's not a transparent process either - the management looks at whatever they look at and decides on a course of action. That's also how things are done in pretty much every place on the internet and it's for a good reason.

Zib has a point. By doing this, you are setting a precedent that SRP implicitly backs all sales. It *might* give a newbie incentive to contact the mods directly rather than try to work it out with the seller.

Now, I completely agree that if the parties cannot work things out between themselves the mods must step in. And if that is what this new policy is designed to do, then I am all for it.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Because that is a crapload of work for the mod team, and would incur a gigantic shipping cost overhead, not to mention insurance in case of loss, etc etc...

The point of pulling ads is not so much to anything about the sold article, but to yank all the other items by the same seller.
In that case, we pull the ads, talk with the seller, and then decide whether we would let him sell again or not.

For example, we could ask that after complaints, one of the mod team evaluate the shavereadiness of a razor, honed by the seller.

Though in reality, the admins back the supermods, and the supermods back the mods because it's kinda hard to manage a >10K user forum with a dozen people if the dirty dozen are fighting amonst themselves

At the end of the fore mentioned long thread where it was proposed that a seller mail one example of a shave ready razor to an appointed judge the consensus was that there was no point in pursuing it.

It is assumed that we on SRP are gentlemen and men of our word. Again it is just my impression but I think that it was left that a seller guarantees satisfaction or your money back less shipping unless the description was so erroneous that shipping should be included.

Now to play the devil's advocate, I'm in support of the "new" policy but it isn't the first time it has been used. A couple of months ago a fellow with 1 post living in Perth, Australia put a Robert Williams S30V with celluloid abalone scales in the classifieds. I PMed a question. Within the hour the mods pulled the ad since the seller was asking a princely sum and had basically no posting history. An intelligent and correct decision IMO.

The seller received my PM and replied. After some correspondence and after looking at his Aus ebay feedback I purchased the razor ( not on ebay but privately) and received it in the condition described. Say this to say that not everyone who places an ad who has a short posting history is a scammer but OTOH you can't be too careful.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

That is exactly what this policy is designed to do.

We do not back anything. But if we have a reason to believe that a seller is really misrepresenting shavereadiness, then we want to look into that before allowing him to sell again.
