Move Chat and Webcast under Community and bring back the New posts!

Burying the most frequently used menu item deeper in menu structure is against UI best practices and common sense.

Well that depends .. It is for you. However, what about a new person that's just showing up? Do you think they need to know where to get the the chat and webcast more than they need to know how to get to User CP or New Posts?

And I'll go a step further, by looking at the statistics for the site. Those two buttons aren't the most used.. Forums and Wiki are the two most used buttons.

Well, pretty well the only button I used was "New Posts." I'd like to kindly request it be brought back.

Just out of curiosity, were those two buttons the least used? I'd hazard a guess that this isn't the case.

If the New Posts button isn't what people use to keep track of posts they haven't previously seen, how do they do it? If there's a better way than New Posts, some education would be nice. Thanks

As with any new changes, there will be those people that like it and those that don't. Just like the changes that came before this one, we will get accustomed to it and go on. Sometimes change seems difficult but in the end it's for the better. Let's give it a chance and see.

I agree, and I'll be fine if it stays this way. It is interesting that my question wasn't answered though (judging from the "thanks" you got, I'm assuming it was read).

I agree with Mike no one likes change and yeah I'll miss the usercp but as soon as the muscle memory kicks in from using the quicklinks over and over you won't hardly even notice the difference and will realize that the drop box is a faster and more accessible option.

I will say that without this announcement I would have continued to think that my browser had hiccuped and that the buttons just didn't load....this will probably take some time for this info to reach everyone and will have to be repeated at naseum till everyone is up to speed.

I thank all the mods who continue to improve and make this place even better than it already is and hope they will understand that they are appreciated and that the members will just need some time to readjust.

any hint as to what new features we can look forward too?

I like the new layout a lot better.

    Regarding "missing" menu items:

    1. Click on the Quick Links item.
    2. Right click on the item you want to bookmark.
    3. Bookmark the item.
    4. In your browser, go to "bookmarks -> organise" (wording might be different).
    5. Put the item into your "Bookmarks Toolbar" folder (if not there already).
    6. Useful in Firefox: add a keyword, so that you only have to enter the keyword into the URL bar, then hit enter.

This is what it looks like in my browser:
