Thanked: 530I hope Glen won't mind reference to a specific member if I reference myself...
Vthomlinson: don't worry about getting banned, unless you're acting out. All the posts you see by banned users were the ones allowed to stay; the ones that didn't cross any lines... When a user makes a post that requires moderation, that post is almost always deleted, and the user is notified of the deletion, and the breach of conduct... Meaning that what you see from a banned user is what is acceptable, even if it's tomfoolery.
And, believe me, it takes a lot to even get a temporary ban, you have to be as thick, and stubborn as... Well... As me And I'm still here. A few weeks without SRP is a great scare-'em-straight tactic. Withdrawal and whatnot
Also, reread what you type before posting it... I think that was my biggest problem. I just typed on auto pilot and never looked back... Not a good idea.
Regards,
Jeremy

This.
A moment to reflect goes a looong ways.
I usually try to think: "better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"... though it doesn't always work out like that.... I often just end up hitting the delete button. Not 'cuz I worry about being banned, but more because what I think I'm trying to convey won't always be interpreted the way I intended... most often because it really wasn't as funny as i momentarily thought it was...

yeah.. i think a temporary ban for me would result in me taking my pride and trying to reinvent shaving without you guys. i'd end up shaving with a mixture of salmon roe and fresh creek mud.. i can see the cheese grated face now..
for me.. the 2 times i've had a post deleted.. it was after my nightly 12 pack and i forgot we don't use words like d**th*n*s on srp.

i figured that would happen.. dipthongs.. it's one of my favourite cursewords to use on the children..
anyway.. i understand the whole banning process and i'm not overly worried.. i simply have an irrational fear of loss. i'm artistic that way.

Thanked: 530Dipthong...
Isn't that a term in music? I can't remember (it's been a long time) but isn't it some form of ennunciation on a note?

Banned User
Ladies and gentlemen:
I fear an air of paranoia has infected the topic under discussion: that if a wrong word is uttered or a contrary opinion given, the banning police might come knocking on the door. That is not the Straight Razor Place I have grown to respect.
Sure, lack of civility and respect for others, as well as the use of profanity just because it pervades today's lingo, should bear some consideration in banning a member. Or at least giving him or her the proper warning.
My motto has always been: think before you say something or write something. That is not only essential here, but anywhere in life.
Although a humble Mentor, I have come to respect the Moderators and Administrators for their sense of fairness and understanding. The mood and the philosophy at SRP undoubtedly start at the top with the noble Lynn Abrams, a true gentleman and a good human being.
This is a fine address and I am glad I share it with my cherished straight razor shaving world.
Thank you for reading, and may good fortune swim in your lane.
Regards,

i think it's really spelled diphthong.. it's when one vowel sound transitions into another in the same sylable.. like coin, boy, or mouse. for some reason it sounds like a good insult to me and i can get away with calling a 6 year old dipthong.. i'd probably get in trouble calling them buttsniff or boogerbreath.
