Thanked: 443If all you want to say in a sig line is "Best wishes" and your name, it doesn't seem too much trouble to just type that out. That'd cover the need for 1-line sigs. If you mean it each time, it's worth typing it out each time.
"These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Post #9 in this thread made it fairly clear, to me at least, that adding clutter to the page was the issue being addressed. Some one asked if this was a storage issue, and the answer to that was no. Then there was a reference to the 50% decrease in space when scrolling in threads after the new policy (see post 18). It almost takes willful disregard for the explanations given to not see that point.

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

I'll be totally honest: I think the removal of sig lines was a really good move. There were a few that bothered me immensely, to the point of ignoring those posters.
So thank you, mods, for doing what you consider best, whatever the reason.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I just wanted to make sure it was ok. I'm all for the no signature line policy, but I am in the habit of signing my posts. If that's no longer cool, I'm fine never doing it again.

I'm glad somebody asked the question! I'm not against signature lines, per se. Actually I don't mind some of the clever witticisms (some are frankly dumb...you know who you are!)
I see the reason behind removing the marketing aspect from sig lines. To that end, I also see how it's easier to slash and burn the signatures entirely without prejudice rather than going through them one by one.
Now it seems that people are cloaking their sig lines into their text. I haven't seen this myself, but it sounds sneaky and clever and I can appreciate that ingenuity.
Isn't this becoming just another thing to police? I don't really see a simple solution.

Rules for some are just another excuse to get away with something...

Thanks, Bruno. I don't see it as a problem in the least because it's easy to still be polite without adding several lines. Best regards, Paul
