It's a sig line guys. Not your firstborn.
As to the comments about the fact that there are other issues as well: we know. And some things can be fixed with some time, and others would require drastic changes.

If you really feel the need to complain, ask yourself if you would spend 1 or more hours of your free time almost every single day to make the place run. If the answer is negative, at least have the courtesy to do some in a constructive manner, instead of being sarcastic or incensed.

I am amazed this comes up now when there was a full thread explaining all the details a few weeks back.
Do you guys read the sigs of a every poster in a thread you visit? Do you really expect that anyone is reading yours?
If there was a decision that the changes are for the better of he forum, then why not support it instead?

From what i read from your post. You didnt want people to end a post with their name or Best wishes. That goes with the title of the tread. No sig means no sig. I dont understand that part.

As for removing the Sig line where people have put quotes and other things. Ok fine i dont mind. You did it across the board not just one forum. It does take up alot of room. I have no prob with that. As long as it is for a rational reason not because some people were getting annoyed with someone else's sig line.

I do appreciate the hard work all the Mod's do. It cant be a thankless job. Your all do a great job. I dont usually jump on the band waggon when changes happen. I go with the flow. But i was a little shocked when i read about not signing your name because that is the old way to do it. That all.

We need a "Sarcastic Thanks" button, does the software have one of those? You cannot manage a Forum with the software. If you do, you'll piss off everyone eventually and have no forum. Since they forum is here to make money for the owners in one way or another, that is not such a good idea.

It is not for me to get into all of the reasons but suffice to say that it was considered to be for the benefit of SRP to institute this policy.
    And the reasons were?

I really feel the need to complain, ain't that why you posted this stuff? Otherwise why have a place to leave comments? If you only want to hear the good stuff, take down the comments section.

The lack of sig lines doesn't much bother me. I enjoyed some folks' and used them as quick links to find parts of the wiki that like to play hide and seek. The ones for vendors were rather nice. There are other forums that I peruse that annoy me greatly with huge walls o' sigs (video game avatars back when I used to be a dork and play WoW, etc).
I don't claim to be a code type person beyond some basic HTML I learned about a decade ago so I don't know if the forum software allows it or if it does but it requires too much out of our mods but my suggestion for the vendors is to have the little blue button that says "Vendor" above their avatar actually be a link to the vendor thread or website that pertains to them? You could even charge a fee for for a link that goes external vs. one that just links to the vendor thread here.
I'm sure that if it is possible the logistics of doing it to an external site and having folks pay for it might be challenging, but it could turn out as a decent way for the forum to get more advertising dollars to cover costs and help some of the smaller vendors who can't yet afford one of the regular banner ads.

This is an interesting thread. While I do feel somewhat stifled that I cannot close a post the way I'd like to, I suppose for me personally it's not really that big of a deal. I've never had a signature line, and it really doesn't bother me personally one way or another. But I'll go back to a post I made previously. Aren't you making more of a headache for moderators? I don't know how many new members this site gets in a month (that exact number exists somewhere, I'm sure) but when new members make their first post they aren't going to know this rule. And, to be friendly, they'll end their posts with something like "happy to be here!, Roger" or maybe even a p.s. I would wager that after even 100 posts they will not know this rule UNLESS someone goes out of their way to tell them "hey buddy, no signature." I've seen a lot of the moderators get fed up with answering the same questions to new guys over and over. Won't this be just one more thing they're likely to loathe?

I suppose you could put something in the terms of use page, but how many new guys read that like seasoned attorneys? Be honest, everyone, just like me, scans those things at best.

Just a question for thought! Thanks!

I think comments and complaints are good. But at some point they can get counterproductive.

Let's imagine somebody spends their time organizing a meeting for other like minded people to come together talk about shaving. And they have found a fine establishment where attendees can purchase say yuengling and everybody's happy. Except that at meeting number 10 the tap is switched to budlite and certain fraction of the attendees start complaining that the greatness of the gathering has diminished immensely and they are not even allowed to bring in their own yuengling but are forced to just suck it up. It's pretty easy something like this to grow out of proportion and kill something that everybody enjoyed.

As I previously noted, how important is it ? But it is the principle of the thing you say ..... sounds too familiar ..... sort of like the house and senate.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
