well, I just went back and re-tested w/IE6... works fine for me. Very strange...
My version of IE is absolutely stock... hardly ever use it so no addons of any kind. My firefox is heavy with add-ins, however. hmmm... maybe it has something to do with the mouse driver... but I can't play w/that right now as I have some other jobs running that preclude me from trying too many other things right now. (I'm running the logitech driver 9.79 with the smart move disabled, btw.)
If you go to badger and blade (they also run the vBulletin forum) and pick a thread with more than 1 page (maybe in the barbershop forum... maybe the reinstate the draft thread... it has multiple pages) does it work the same or differently than you see here? It works the same as here for me.Last edited by azjoe; 11-23-2006 at 07:13 PM. Reason: fix typos

I've never experienced this problem, using Firefox 1.5.0.8 at the moment.
The only time a thread doesn't open at the top for me is if I'm revisiting one and it picks up where I left off in the middle or bottom of the page.Last edited by DMS; 11-23-2006 at 07:22 PM. Reason: Added detail

Voila! Interesting... I was finally able to re-create the behavior if I view the forum inside the main site frame (which I almost never do, btw).
If I load and view the forum direct it doesn't. Dunno what to tell you... that's not a settings or config problem within the forum. So no quick fix. I'll add it to my list of things to look for solutions too... I can certainly see how annoying it would be.

edit: It occurs to me that some newer members may not know what I meant by inside the frame versus direct.
if you open the main site loads and then you can click forums... which loads the forum in a frame inside the main site.
Or, you could go directly to and the forum will load in a window by itself (ie, not inside a frame on the main site).Last edited by azjoe; 11-23-2006 at 07:33 PM. Reason: added edit:

well this is definitly the best surport i have ever got todo with a computer not that i actully use support very much but normally if you pay for support its normally slower than this. anyway the quick fix seems to be that use it without the main frame which i would not rather do but saves me getting anoyed and breaked the scroll wheel, keep me posted on long term fix if there is one pleease, once again thanks for all your help just hope i can return the favour one day.

I had that problem at one point, and I believe it is a setting issue. Click on Quick Links in the toolbar>Edit Options, then scroll down to Thread settings. Be sure it is set for "Oldest First". If my memory is working, that is how I solved my problem.

I have this problem as well. Fresh install of WinXP SP2, IE 6.0. Mouse is the touchpad built into a Dell Latitude D610 (sniff, I miss my own computer). Whether I view forums direct or in frames, the page does not jump to the top of the page. However, I know that the security settings imposed by the admins of these computers prevent a lot of javascript from running. I wonder if there is a javascript trigger to move the page back to the top that is not occurring?

thx! We're working on a new version of the site the will still load the forum in a frame on the main site, but will be nearly full width, thus solving many problems that plague the current screens. However, I'm afraid it isn't going to resolve this particular problem. I can't check it at the moment as I've broken the test site trying to get something else to work, lol.
it might make things better, but I'm not sure it really fixes it... you just have a shorter distance to scroll. I think you want newest first, but I haven't actually tried it so I could be wrong.
if javascript is blocked then they've likely disabled the ajax support too... thus, unfortunately, you'll find lots of things don't work as well as they could/should. If you run the "Classic vBulletin" style, you'll minimize some of the impact. That's the best I can offer as I don't want to turn off the AJAX features since that would impact everyone.

Joe, when I always clilck "New Posts" when I get to the forums. The threads are in order by most recent post. But you are correct, the posts are "backwards". I guess I like them that wasy because I can read the thread "in order". I've done it so long, I'm accustomed to it. So wouldn't the solution be to set it to "Newest First"? Or am I just missing the entire issue?

Thanks for the suggestion RT I looked in my settings and it was oldest first, my prefered setting so I changed it looked at a couple of threads and changed it back, viola problem gone.
azjoe I'd love to but every time I try to download a new version my puter crashes or the conection drops or my isp boots me. I need something faster than dial-up but no-one but sattelite offers it here, at least that I have found yet. Besides i finally have the settings the way I like them
