Can you explain what you mean by "every new page"? I haven't noticed this happening, but there are so many options and browsers that it would help me troubleshoot your problem if you could add some details.

I am having a similar problem.. WinXP/Opera9.2. Let's say I am browsing a multipage thread, get to the bottom of the first page, click on page 2 and when it opens the page, it puts me at the bottom of the page so I have to scroll all the way up to read the page from the beginning.

Guys... you're sounding like the little old lady that goes to the garage and tells the mechanic she hears a clicking noise...

The point here is that I have tried to reproduce this with both Firefox 2 and IE 6. So far, I've tried logging in as I usually do (ie, I get my usercp options), viewing as a guest (ie, I get the default usercp options), I've played with a number of usercp options, and I've tried a number of different styles. ...

None of this has reproduced the behavior you describe. That means you have to tell me more specifics about what your settings and actions are... or I have to suggest you go back and reset everything to the defaults and see what happens.

(as an aside, wildtim you need to seriously consider upgrading your firefox to a more recent version, don't ya think? Not only are you missing some good enhancements, you're really open to a couple security flaws that have been corrected in the past couple years.)

Joe, it looks like the common denominator so far is a Mozilla-based browser. Which settings could affect this freak occurrence?

Where are you clicking to open a thread?

To the left of the thread name is a small button with an inverted triangle in it - if I click on this, the thread opens at the bottom of the page.

However, if I click on the thread name itself, it opens properly.

Could this be what you are doing?

Hmmm... you see it in Opera -- that's not mozilla based (at least it didn't used to be). I don't see it in firefox, which is certainly Mozilla based (afterall, it is mozilla!).

Don't get me wrong... I'm not saying there isn't a problem... I just need some help reproducing it. BTW, I've also looked extensively at the config settings for the whole forum and see nothing there that is obvious. Did you notice the same behavior before the upgrade a couple days ago?

wow thanks for all your response, TBH this is not a major problem but i have never noticed it with any other forum i have used. I view this forum both at work and at home, if i start of a the first forum page and click on a topic like "Shaving" this opens fine and the page starts of at the top, if i then click page 2 at the bottom of of the shaving page it then loads up with me starting up at the bottom. Also any threads i go in to seem to suto load me at the bottom of the page, it also happens when replying to a thread.

I use Firefox portable & Firefox 2 + have also tried IE7, not to sure what the work spec is apart from WinXP SP2 but the home rig is a WInxp sp2, Geforce 7800 (1248x1280 i think) 2x 200gb HDD, 10mb/sec line, and loads of other stuff if you need to know them let me know, oh and the home pc i use a Razer diamondback mouse and at work i use a Microsoft mouse.

    Rich

When going to a page 2 it auto loads me at the bottom if i click on the links to page 2 at the bottom of page 1.

Joe, I've noticed the same problem with IE6 when I went into the forums without logging in (just tested it now). And yes I had the problem before the upgrades.
