I agree with Harry that there is a tobacco note to the Marlborough. It smells nothing like the Arlington which is citrusy. The Marlborough reminds me of a sweet cigar humidor....I love it. I also think the stick would be the way to go. You can then use it as is or grate it into a mug.

Totally get what you are saying here, Harry. Heavy scents can be cloying during the summer heat, regardless of whether they are soaps or colognes!

I would tend to agree with this too. Marlborough gives me a hint of tobacco as well. It's very light, but definitely there.

DR Harris Marlborough is a great soap. A friend suggested I try it, and I was very pleased with it, all around. To my nose, it has a very light "fresh" scent. Not overpowering at all. Nothing like Tobs Sandalwood. I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed with it. Arlington smells like lemon to me. Marlborough is described as Woodsy and Masculine. I don't get that at all. Definitely a keeper.

The replacement puck is 100g and the stick is 40g. Both $18 in Canada so the puck would be the better value, in case anyone's curious.

This thread has been dormant for quite a while but I thought I revive it some with a soap I tried today that might make a Marlborough fan happy - Barrister and Mann's Roam. It kind of feels like the balance of scents have been reversed here in that the most prominent scent coming off of this one is tobacco and the smoky/woodsy scents are in the backseat. If you are a fan of Marlborough, you might like this one. Its a similar lather that gets nice and slick with more water added. Tallow based, like DRH as well. Its a polarizing scent that won't appeal to everyone since its fairly distinct. Once I smelled it, I was hooked. You might be too. If you're looking for something new, this might be it.

"Inspired by the rugged individualism of American cattle ranchers, we blended the aromas of real pipe tobacco absolute, smoke, leather, herbs, damp earth, and grass into a bright, robust scent reminiscent of life on the open range. Timeless and virile, Roam harkens back to the days of the Old West."

Marlborough is a great scent - as others have said, nice crisp, clean cedarwood scent with a hint of tobacco (more like a hint of black pepper to my nose) that is not strong or overbearing.

If you want to the scent before dropping $15-30 on a puck or tub, I believe Gary's Sample Shop has samples of the soap.
