I Face lather directly from the puck, with warm or cold water, thats it. No scuttle, no glycerin, no holding the bowl upsidedown. Below is a link on the proper way to lather mitchells wool fat. good luck

    Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap

I only face lather with MWF and I always get great results. I have heard if the water/scuttle is too hot it tends to break down the lather. Good luck.

That holds true for any soap or cream. The hottest water from my tap is good enough for me, and I never use boiling water.

Like I said in my above post, I've used MWF in my scuttle with great results. If you have one give it a shot.

Too my surprise, when I removed the brush from the scuttle and test lathered on my palm, the lather thickened up as it cooled. Has anyone else experienced this thickening when using a scuttle? Now I'm hooked on my scuttle, and the MWF!

Face lathering is great with MWF or any soap for that matter. MWF excels in that respect. That's the way Grandpa dd it with Williams. I do it with several soaps, Mike's comes to mind. I think the OP is asking about his scuttle? I'm sure he wants to use it since he bought it.

The above post is absolutely correct, as is Ryan, If the water is too hot, it'll kill the lather.

I'm guessing your results are similar due to the scuttle itself instead of the temperature, but you never know. Enjoy!
Yeah! Nice to hear that about the G20. I am awaiting mine. Glad to know I'm not alone in recognizing a good thing when I see it and impetuously order it.

Mitchells is not an easy soap to lather, and everyone has little tricks that help them. At first, I really didn't like Mithcells Woolfat, but once i had that "Aha moment" with lather. Things got remarkably better. Give It some time and try different things until you find something that works. For me it's no preshave oils, plain wool fat with nothing added, cold water and face lathering. Good luck
