Possibly the best shaving cream ever...
Hi,
As a dermatologist I get to try lots of new products frequently and I've used about 30 or so different shaving creams/soaps etc.
I've settled on the Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel as the very best - especially if you have sensitive skin.
No, I don't work for J&J or own their stock!
If you have sensitive skin or just want the best experience squirt a thimble sized amount into a wetted palm and work into a thick lather with your brush then lather up and shave as usual... Let me know what you think!

I read some good reviews of this product when I was looking for an alternative to maca root. They said it was also much more natural. Is it readily available?

A few years ago when I was using canned gel, this was my brand. I agree that this is the best canned cream out there. It works well even with a de or straight.

Thanked: 3226It is odd but I just could not bring myself to use a product meant to be applied in that manner no matter how good it was. I have no doubt that it is an excellent product but I enjoy the act of shaving which includes creating and applying a lather using a brush. The question for me then, is can this gel be used with a traditional brush to make and apply a lather?

Thanked: 154Thanks ocelot27,
I'm always on the lookout for good shave creams for sensitive skin. AoS Unscented is my favorite; I'll give the Aveeno a try.

Thanked: 1This was my "canned" product for a few years, though it had a serious flaw. My wife would always take it and use it. It simply didnt last long under those circumstances.

As canned goo goes this is pretty good stuff. SWMBO has it in the shower and I sometimes use it as a "pre-shave" during my shower. SWMBO does not mind as I make sure there is always a spare can around...

I use a brush dipped in hot water and create the lather in my wet palm - works like a charm.
It blows away the AoS product and Baum.de which I think are the two best conventional creams.
Some people have tough skin and fine hair - I have very sensitive skin and a very thick beard so I've been trying everything under the sun for months.
I do get it for free from the Aveeno rep which May bias me slightly
