Proraso Crema da Barba Tubo Blu
    (Proraso Shaving Cream Blue Tube)

    Producer: Ludovico Martelli, Florence, Italy

    Type: Shaving Cream.

INCI (List of Ingredients): Aqua, Stearic Acid, Cocos nucifera Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Parfum, Sodium Hydroxide, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Menthol, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Sodium Metasilicate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate

Good quality ingredients with the exception, in my opinion, of sodium metasilicate, tetrasodium edta, hydroxyethylcellulose, butylphenyl methylpropional, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate. Score: 8

Package: Aluminium tube in cardboard box, Score: 10

    Quantity: 150ml (5.2oz)

Smell: Mild and delicate scent of licorice root and menthol with a touch of hazelnut and musk, Score: 9

Lather: I used, as usual, about two centimeters of cream corresponding to about 4/5 of an inch. With a moderate quantity of water it easily makes an abundant lather, creamy and rich, good water retention. With this quantity of cream I obtained a lather more than enough for my three usual passes, Score: 10

Shaving: Very good sensation on the skin. The razor slides easily and comfortably, leaving a moisturized and smooth skin. The lather is quite fatty and creamy, no signs of dry lather and no signs of irritation, Score: 10

Conclusion: A very good shaving cream. It seems the new Proraso formulas are more performing than the old ones, I guess also because of the presence of aloe giving extra smoothness to the lather. At the end of the shave the skin is very moisturized and smooth with no signs of irritations. The scent is very mild and it can be considered a sort of neutral cream, however the licorice root scent is delicate and pleasing, Score: 9

I have several creams I really like and I think, from now on, I'll look to buy them in tubes instead of tubs. Just seems easier to get the right amount out to do a proper lather job! Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review razorguy, I've been interested in the Proraso Blue line (cream and aftershave balm) since it was first introduced. They will likely be my next purchase of Proraso products, though admittedly I already have a ton of others that I probably should use up first

I have the Blue, Red, Green and White, all are fantastic.

For me, the Red is the best, creamy, that sandalwood is incredible, great shaving soap.

Now the Blue, while a little more expensive, is my next favorite, it's a very smooth, creamy again, very subtle scent. As I've said before, the Proraso, you just can't beat the bang for the buck...really is an all around great product!!

    Excellent review by the way....

+1 on this. For the money, Proraso is tough to beat. I tried the balm and was not happy with it. Just not my cup of tea. My biggest complaint with their line up is that they don't offer all of their scents in aftershaves and balms. But the creams are really nice.

And you will be able to sell your snurdle collection and.use the profits to but more cream, the only downside is that I think it works out a bit more expensive to buy tubes over tubs.

Edhewitt: proraso tubes are the size of a regular tub. Everyone wins!

Razorguy: first I've heard of this new "color" of proraso. Thanks for the review.

I am glad you gentlemen appreciate my soap/cream reviews. As for Proraso, I have always used their soaps since the day I started shaving (that is, a long long time ago) and in my den I have always had a tub of their soap, at those times, only the green one was available.
I have never considered Proraso a top performing soap, a good soap for its price, but not the best. I must admit the new formulas have improved performance quite a lot and now I changed my mind.
However, of the four soaps/creams (green, white, red and blue) it seems to me the green one is the less performing of the four, leaving the skin a little dry. It is not a matter of tube or tub, as I get the same result with the green cream which is also sold in a tube.
The discriminating ingredient seems to be aloe, which is found in red, blue and white creams/soaps whereas it is not used for green cream/soap.
However, here in Italy it is not that easy to find blue, red and white soaps or creams, whereas the green ones are available everywhere. I don't know why, but it seems easier to find red, white and blue outside Italy. The price is however very good, at least in Italy, where you usually pay for a 150ml tub or tube something ranging from 1.60 to 3.50 euros.
As for new Proraso products, here in Italy it recently appeared in shelves a yellow canned foam, a product I don't use at all. It seems to have cocoa butter in it and vitamin E.

I a tempted by the blue proraso, as I don't like the over powering mentholness of the green (i have only tried the pre/post shave white gooey stuff, but gave it away), however I am trying to reign in my burgeoning cream and soap selection, but when I have run some of what I have down I think I will try some.
