Default Is there a bad Italian soap or creme?

I've tried, Proraso, Vito's, Valobra, Cella, Panna Crema and Razor Rock. I've also read that Santa Maria Novella is excellent. It seems like the Italians know what they are doing as there is not a bad one in the bunch. I probably haven't tried them all but is there such a thing as a bad Italian shaving soap or creme?

Funny - I think I am settled on the notion that I don't like Proraso! CRAZY!! I know! But then... I haven't tried the new stuff!

But if you like Italian, you got to try some Acca Kappa 1869 "love!". I'll never be without it. Man, it smells so good I want to eat it .

Oh and if you like to layer, check out the aftershave! I think I like it more than the "croap." Though in the heat of summer you might want to water it down a bit. Never bought the soap and aftershave... But I think I just might next order .

I guess that would depend on what you liked in a soap/cream. Any of the Italian soaps I have tried work but I don't like the scent of almond so there goes Cella and Vitos Red for me. Gave my Proraso Green and Red away to a friend as I wasn't overly in love with it for some reason I can't put a finger on. My friend likes the stuff so he's happy. OTH Valobra Patchouli I do like.

    Hi All,

For me, the proraso line is highly over rated. I've tried the pre-shave, didn't do a thing, as well as the shave cream in the green tube, mediocre at best.

The Cella, on the other hand, is wonderful and one of my favorites.

    Best, Alan

I'm not a huge Proraso fan myself. Don't get me wrong, it is a good cream, but I find many other creams that are far superior.

Proraso Blue is amazing, I could stop right there, and be forever happy, but of course I won't...

Has anyone tried the new Proraso that's Sandalwood scented? Does it have much of a scent? A strong scent? I'd like to try it. I like sandalwood scented soaps a great deal.

I like the scent of the Proraso red, and I do think it's strong. Supposedly it is the "thick beard" formula but I haven't paid enough attention to notice the difference between it and the blue formula. They work fine for me, and I do use them, but I'd say for 8 bucks there are probably better options out there.

If you like Italian soaps have to try the almond Boellis De Panama. A large handmade soap with natural scent and not as artificial cella or Vito's. It' expencive, but it's great. It 's a tallowate soap.
