I did what Pixel said & got mine in May of 2013,, I'm on my 3rd small block & have 6 blocks left. I cut them into small blocks that fit in my Pyrex dish,,, wrapped the blocks in wax paper, then put the blocks into zip lock baggies, then in the back of the fridge, I did not freeze mine. I would say cut them small, as they last a long time.

Cella is a typical Italian soft soap, like the old P160, TFS, Valobra etch. There is no cream version and soap version and I find no major difference between the two, if there is any at all. However, the differences in the two packs, small quantity in a plastic tub the first, and large quantity wrapped with plastic the other, may preserve the soap in a different way while waiting in a shop shelf for months or years.

This has been another helpful thread for me, thanks to all for the input.
When ever I Wax to the "Two Razor Bob" mode one of the things I think about is paring down my soap choices from "several baskets under the sink" to if not one, a shorter list.
And in the soap category having at least one at the lower end of the cost per shave would help assuage the SAD induced shock to the system when I pull out those baskets.
Someday I might try Arko again, but the last time I was looking like I had been bobbing for French Fries by the end of the save...
And yes, I have shaved with Williams...and no, I don't want to make that my low cost contender thank you very much...
Cella 1kg is, by all comments, in that "lower cost per shave" category - esp with Smyth's find & share.
I have the tub, but it did not get a fair shot as I'm pretty sure it has gone bad...it is a funky yellow color...
But I did have a fresh slice of the Block Cella that came in as the Lagniappe with a razor.
The results had been "Meh" until I realized that it really was me, I needed to read more and do the "use it every day for a week thing".
By using what I had learned in the other threads on the subject I was able to get an instant turn around...you can look like that guy on the box...(OK, not that foamy but more than enough wonderful lather from a face lather to get 3 passes and a bit to spare)
And when you get it to its peak performance the post shave effects seem to be much better, almost like a shave balm.
So thanks again my mein Klingenbruder for being such a great resource...

Thanked: 19One other thing I learned by communicating with the Connaughts: on each item next to the price is a smaller number in parentheses. That number is the price we would pay - we don't have to pay the V.A.T.. So, really, a very nice price on several items, even considering shipping (which is free with a 60 gbp purchase).

I bought the red tub....transferred to a larger tub...used it and think its great.
I bought a kilo of cella...split it uo and sold off chunks...saved a chunk for myself.
The biggest difference from the tub and the kilo is the consistency. The tub is super soft. The kilo is a nicer firm soap.

Ordered a Kilo of Cella Yesterday, hope it gets here by Friday, In my shave mug is a mix of VDH, Williams, Col. Conk and a touch of Dove soap. After 50 years I think my shave mug will go into shock with a good soap.

Cella Crema Sapone burn rate..
Since this is the most current Cella Crema Sapone thread I thought I would start here.
I've been using this for the last few weeks, pretty much 5 out of 7 shaves a week.
Face Lather, 30-40 second load on a soaked but shaken boar brush.
Plenty of lather for a 2.5 pass shave with some to spare, and great results.
I've been struck but how slow it gets used up, given that it is not a "hard" soap.
Most of the comments when you ask "how long does a 1kg block last?" are in the order of years or a long long time.
Curious and shave-geeky I drug out a 2000g scale and started weighing container every day.
Reference - these containers weigh about 218g empty.
I was thinking this would get used up at 2g a shave or that 1Kg block would last 500 shaves.
What I am seeing in my short test is never more than 0.4g a shave.
I know I need to look at this over 10 or 20 or more shaves to get a real average but...
Any suggestions?

My Cella Kilo came Friday, opened package and the aroma was mostly Almond with a hint of coconut, suddenly I had a yen for a Almond candy bar or Spumoni ,I had 3 shaves with it and have to ask. Is this stuff made in shavers heaven? Now I'm going to have to buy an expensive shave bowl or mug to put it in and toss out the Van der Hagen soap. I think you guys are influencing me too much, As a young man I started out with Dad giving me a new Gillette Tech a puck of Williams and was a happy camper.
