Default Martin de Candre- initial observations

This has to be the best lathering soap I have ever used. It takes surprisingly little brush loading to create a rich lather. It is a bit dry and likes some added moisture. I have been dipping my brush in a bit of water to lighten up the lather. Otherwise, it is too dense. My only complaint is the scent or rather lack of scent. I bought the scented version but there is hardly any smell associated with it. I enjoy a good vetiver or other scent while shaving and am a bit disappointed.

The soap was expensive. Not sure it is worth the difference between that and DR Harris. On the other hand, I use so little each time it may last for several years. All in all, a good purchase but not the life changing event I thought it would be.

I always get a kick when the cost of MDC is spoken. Is it spendy??? Yes but not only is MDC the finest soap out there, its also a soap that never runs out. Ive had a jar for well over a year and a half now, and jar looks hardly touched. A few swoops with a wet brush and you get a cubic yard of lather. So in the long run its probably the most economical soap on the market considering its longevity.

Get the Fougère version, it smell amazing! It has an herbal scent comparable to vetiver, but way better (IMHO).

    Cheers.

Reminds me of the guy who bought the Rolex Watch and as he strapped it on, he thought, as he walked out of the store folks would stare at it and he would suddenly be the most popular guy at work and everyone would call him sir and his IQ would suddenly go up 25% overnight and he would get a nice salary raise. None of that happened and he was disappointed except of course for the crook who took it off his wrist at gunpoint one night. The crook certainly noticed it. I wonder if he called him sir when he robbed him.

I don't follow. I was just expressing my initial opinion of a soap.

I finally decided to order some MDC, so I look forward to my first shave with it. Yes it was pricey, but if it lasts as long as everyone says it does, then it will be money well spent.

As for Rolex parodies, I used to work with a guy who had two Rolex watches, but rarely wore them. I asked him why one day and he said his $25 watch from Target kept better time, so go figure.

Well you can look at Mona Lisa or the Sunday paper supplements - they are both pictures.

To the OP - congratulations on buying MdeC - it's worth every penny.
